Would it be in bad tastes to have an in game event where you donate to Ala Mingo and the result is new housing and less NPCs by the sapphire exchange? What about a Garliean relief fund? Beastman pride week where you get double tokens for the week? Allagan History month with new codex entries?

These all sound like core features to the game and lore building rather than a seasonal event. Much like Ishgard Housing restoration was. None of these would address real world awareness in any capacity. What you're suggesting is no different than when Call of Duty has double exp bonuses for a week. Players would take advantage of these and wouldn't think once at all about the reasoning why they exist.

To be honest, if this was their middle ground then I would be more than happy about those turn of events. I assumed enough people would cry about it and the idea gets gulag'd since some would feel like it "makes light" of the situation. Then again, i'm in the camp of treating games as a form of escape from real life pressures, lol.

Shame people feel the need to weaponise ToS to silence other people. Ironic the people calling for tolerance do tend to be the most intolerant to people not eating up all the things they try to feed you. In games they will try to have you banned and irl they will come instead for your livelihood. Pretty disgusting.

Tolerence for people, 0 tolerance for Hate and bigotry. I have no tolerance for any words or actions designed to harm others. Hate speech is designed to rally people so they can murder people like me. Just this week an author who was saying the same words as the Bigot who posted here called for the ending of trans lives.

And I would also wonder why people pointing out gender dysphoria is mental illness is taken so poorly? Sounds like the stigma against mental illness rearing it's head. We are not lesser for suffering from a mental illness, we just have challenges to face that some others do not. Getting all offended at someone saying x is a mental illness (when it is) is you in your mind saying that mental illness is bad or that you are somehow lesser for having it.

Because they are equating Gender Dysphoria as being Transgender. Not all Transgender people get Gender Dysphoria, and not all types of Dysphoria are related to Gender. In fact it was a Transphobe who separated Gender Dysphoria from General Dysphoria in the first place to add more stigma to being transgender. Yes many of us get it, just like the vast majority of us end up with PTSD due to physical and sexual assault. Does Being Transgender mean you automatically get PTSD? No. GD is basically similar to PTSD as its caused by society telling people what counts as manly or womanly. Just like weight, height, skin and hair color. The vast majority of people with dysphoria are Cis Gender people, the main causes Male Patterned Baldness, how many Cis guys go crazy when they loose their hair? The cause is the social pressure to have a full head of hair.

Understanding gender dysphoria went a long way for many people in accepting trans people in the first place and now many are trying to throw it out the window and say anyone can be trans without suffering from the thing that would cause you to transition in the first place. If you are A ok with your body, sex, gender etc.. what exactly is the motivator for you to claim the trans title?

Understanding Empathy is all a person needs to understand trans people. We exist, trans people have existed through out all of human history, and it wasn't an issue for anyone until the last few years. I've been out as Trans since the 1990s, and for the most part society was unaware of us, and when they found out they usually responded with "oh, cool" not the hate that we see these days. I've been living as a woman since 1992, I've only used womens restrooms since that time, and even though I have a "never can pass" body type, no one really cared or even noticed until Asshat became president of the US and validated the Reich Wing agenda.

Also how do I know my gender? How do you know? It's innate, you are just yourself, only you can define who you are in your head. I am a woman.

A simple test of gender identity, close your eyes and imagine the perfect you, don't limit yourself, just imagine the perfect you. Most peoples perfect self matches gender, most peoples perfect self is essentially the current self only better. Me and people like me see someone other than who we were born as. This is not Gender Dysphoria btw. It's just your identity.

Dysphoria is a chronic terminal illness where due to societal pressures you hate your body. It can be related to any aspect of your body. Most Dysphoria is easily treated and manageable.

I have no idea. To me it seems some people enjoy aspects typical of the opposite gender and as such say they are trans, but you are just a guy or girl who doesn't conform to stereotypes.. ykno tomboy, femboi etc. I don't think trans is a descriptor that applies to a person that just enjoys the other sex's clothing etc. Clothing and make up are just things we made ourselves, sex and gender is deeper than that.

Gender identity is not the same as aesthetic preference. Tom Boy and Fem Boy are just two types of gender nonconformity based on aesthetic and the social construct around gender. Being a man or a woman have nothing to do with the social construct of gender roles or gender presentation. I'm a trans woman, my gender identity is that of a woman, since birth I have always been female, I've never been able to "man up" because I'm not a man. If I wear jeans and a tee shirt with no make up, I'm a woman in jeans and a tee shirt without makeup, there is no man here. Likewise, there are guys out their who are manly men and have been men since birth, who like makeup and womanly clothing. Hells Bells, the entire Gothic Movement of the 80s and 90s was based around Straight Guys in Velvet, fishnets, and heavy makeup. What is funny the amount of trans guys I know who have beards, and pass in stealth as men, who will go out in drag during pride is much higher than I would have ever guessed. Like Trans Guys who look like Cowboys with full beards, going to pride dressed as Dorothy, it's a thing.

That's just my thoughts on it. In general, live and let live. I don't have to agree with a person or 100% understand the label they claim. Do you.

You don't have to understand, but if you don't understand, you don't have to make other peoples lives harder than it already is. Holding on to hateful ideas, and harmful stereotypes is a surefire way to harm other people. And you shouldn't.

Then it becomes a Black Lives Matter event in a game
Then it becomes a Ukraine event in a game.

My point is, there are way to many of these to add into a video game. Are they important issues? Absolutely. Should awareness be spread? Absolutely. But you can't expect game developers to add something into the game every time a world issue happens. Especially when they aren't international holidays.

Companies only donate to these events because they get tax breaks. And half the time, the donations are coming from their own employee paychecks whom of which don't get any of the recognition or credit. Only the cooperate does.

Honestly, We should have a Global June 18th BLM, LGBTQAI+ Pride event with donations going to Ukraine's humanitarian needs. I think every game company should do this.
