How can we even being to define what "fair" even means?

You could argue a waiting list is actually more fair, because it's unfair that someone who just started playing the game 3 months can win a large home while someone that's been trying to get one for 10 years loses.

You could argue that a more capitalistic approach is more fair, because if someone wants to get into a better home they should earn the gil and pay more based on demand.

And even with having a long lottery entry window, you could argue that current system gives people who can login an hour before the lottery ends an unfair advantage in bidding on higher probability plots.'

Let's just stop using "fair" to defend any one system over another. The lottery system is just another system with no claims on some mythical objective "more fair" notion
Wow, the level of entitlement in your post, is off the charts. The Lottery IS objectively fair with regards to personal housing because it gives the SAME ACCESS to all who enter it. It does not discriminate based on people's schedules, speed of Internet access, third party addons, time spent playing the game or the amount of Gil players have (as long as the players have the basic plot fee). Everyone who wishes to apply is given the same access. That is objectively fair.
