Gathering and gardening, like I have always made money. I like to save my Pure Whites/Jet Blacks for myself.
I recently put goal for myself to 80mil and hit it fast because i had extra time to put into my videogame money making, lol. (๑꧆w꧆๑)

My submarines are not in gil making shape yet. Ma~aybe soon, I hope. I want to open some sectors first.

I have, even after floating a friend some gil to try his luck in the housing lotto, 90mil. All of it has been passive so it's taken a bit to build up but:

Doman Restoration (SB unlock, pre-reqs re Elation and Trepidation, Short Arms of the Law, A Thousand and One Farewells, then talk to Kozakura) nets you 40k/week at max rep with them, 20k/week until then. Max rep will also double anything you sell to them.

Run single player maps, sell the mats. Sell on weekends for a bigger profit.

    Sell furniture during housing rushes.

Quick ventures on retainers, sell what you get back. If it sells for crap, sell it to the Domans!

Find what sells best on your server in gathered goods: you'll have to do some legwork in it, but on Balmung stuff like Flax sells well and you can gather a bunch in a 20min period.

Sell things in measured stacks: some things like sesame seeds you need for ONE item, and you only need a couple of them. Sell in smaller stacks on some items, like 5-10 items, and you can probably get away with selling them at a higher price. I don't want a stack of 99 sesame seeds even if they're selling for 99 gil for the entire stack. I'll pay 2500 for a stack of 5 and I'm not the only one. Things you need a boatload of for crafting (Flax, looking at you) you can get away with selling for a full 99 stack.

You do need to babysit your retainers some, adjust prices, etc., but it's not too bad. I don't wildly undercut, I price it at whatever the lowest is or just above lowest, depending on what I'm selling. Anything selling at market price just sell to the Domans or sell via retainer/store.

    Roulettes.

Always look at the gil you make as that much more than you had before. 10 more gil is still 10 more gil than you had before, and is more than 0.

If you do your roulette everyday in the prefered role you can make like roughly 4-5m gil each month. Which are 60m gil every year.

Even tho this got nerfed you can do all your leve quests with crafting and get like still 2-3m gil each month which are 36m each year.

This alone is stuff that isn't influenced by anything that has to do with the marketboard and market in general, this money you can make without ever touching the marketboard.

Not we take in account that some players are playing this game for years now and you clearly can see that getting a huge amount of gil is just a matter of not spending it constantly.

Some other tips: Do bunny fates in eureka. Mounts are still worth a good amount of gil and each golden chest gives you 100k gil for free. Do your weekly bluemage arena, you can buy over 100 teleport tickets with the currency you get from there which are 100 free teleports.

I typed up this big 'ol response, and then my computer spazzed out. I'll take that as a sign that I can explain things in fewer words.

If I was to boil it down, and probably has already been mentioned, it would be retainers. They are the key. Retainers are extremely valuable. Not unlike owning a tractor, or a horse. Not only do they make life easier for you, they are also appreciating assets. And the game gives you two of them for free. They should always be selling items, and you should always be feeding them ventures. If you are not utilizing them to at least some capacity, then you're just losing money.

Like most appreciating assets, they require a large investment up front, but their value increases exponentially due to the benefits they provide. It can be very time consuming to manage your retainers, especially if you want to maximize their capacity, so I would be wary about purchasing additional retainers if you're just using them for storage. It might be more prudent to figure out how to work with the space you have. There's not much point to retainers costing you more RL money if they are not bringing in a considerable amount of the game's own currency.

When it comes to what items you should have your retainers be selling. Well, that is up to you. Whatever it is, you will find that it is far more effective to use a 'scatter shot' method when it comes to what you put up for sale rather than focusing in on only a few items. Crafting and gathering for example are only two of several ways to acquire items to place for sale.

    Good luck!

Level your retainers and get them appropriate gear. They may bring back Venture coffers that have the possibility of containing expensive dyes. Attain Captain rank in your Grand Company and use Company Seals to purchase material containers, they regularly drop minions and mounts that sell for a decent amount (including the Night Pegasus and the Dodo from PoTD/HoH respectively, they are very rare drops but they do exist in these gacha coffers), do deep dungeons and try to get as many high level sacks as possible to sell Primal crafted weapons and mounts. Do Unreal every week until you get enough faux leaves to buy the expensive mounts and sell them. There, money made, no crafting or gathering needed

This community operates like a giant fucking clique. It's why I don't interact with anyone ingame outside of my FC. The most absolutely impenetrable community I have ever encountered.
What are you going on about? You have received lots of answers. If this is 'the most absolutely impenetrable community you have ever encountered,' you have lived a remarkably charmed life.

With that out of the way, I'd like to offer how I make my money.

    1. I buy crafting materials from vendors in the housing areas and sell them on the market boards. People snatch them up because it's more convenient to buy them in the cities than teleport to their housing areas, buy what they need, then teleport back.

    2. I run dungeons for gear, which I turn in for seals at my grand company supply missions. I then use the seals to buy glamour prisms which I sell.

    3. I'm only a carpenter but I make good gil with common housing items. Everyone needs items like half partitions, lanterns, lofts, etc...

    4. A high risk/high reward option is gear which could be used for glamour. You can either make a huge profit on a drop or the market can get oversaturated and you are stuck holding an item for month.

While not everyone is good at socializing (and some refuse to anyway), the novice network is generaly a good way for this! It doesnt require any recruiting into an FC or require you to find a linkshell. But being active there and finding people that often want to play with you is a way to get yourself known. Especialy when they know you are often crafting wanted items. They might know other linkshells/FC's/Discords where people want to have a steady source of items.

Note that its not an issue to sell items a bit cheaper than they normaly would be, if you can guarantee that they are sold anyway! Retainers can take time for selling, and direct trades keep a slot open there.

Don't bother. This person frequently comes to the forums to whine about stuff, people give them answers and they complain because said answers are not the answers they want

Ah! Thanks for clearing that up.

Anyways, I'm glad the question was asked because this thread is full of good information for players.
