I don't understand how people make so much Gil in this game

I'd love if this community would actually clearly explain things to someone unfamiliar rather than layer everything under 50 different secret metas that someone just playing the game normally would never know about. This community operates like a giant fucking clique. It's why I don't interact with anyone ingame outside of my FC. The most absolutely impenetrable community I have ever encountered.



I mused the possibility that people have been hoarding wealth for years but I have seen people go from new player to tens of millions in a short span of time so something is going on. There is information that I am not privy to which people are unwilling to explain.

This is one of the most open game communities anywhere, it's just that you're asking an oft asked question that people are tired of answering. Also consider how long this game has been online, there is so much to know, and much of it has changed each expansion. ANYWAYS. You want Gil? Crafting leves, highest level. Use these as a baseline, as it is Market Board agnostic, then sell pretty much anything that is not useful to you I guess, and spend as little as possible. One can get a decent amount of Gil selling that stuff but if you wanna drown in it...Crafting and Gathering.

Challenge mode: Don't mention Discord in any capacity. Because I swear to god someone is gonna say something along the lines of "bro join [insert discord server for making gil here]".

Just do roulettes as adv in need. That and treasure maps.


I got 120+ mil off just that.

I never craft to make more, or fate for money. Just passive gain off roulettes and maps.

I hate putting in effort into making money, but have consistently held over 100m for a few years now.

My tips:
1) Never let a currency cap. Everything except MGP can make you money.
2) Always be doing ventures. Quick Ventures overall the best.
3) Find the things that take the least time to offer the most money. Squadrons take a while to get setup, but can bring you over 20k/day and those take a few minutes. Daily treasure map will get you 20, 30, 40k+ depending, and you can get that in 2~ min. Keep a tab on all endgame maps for all expansions.
4) Find the easy weeklies. Doman Enclave is a net 20k week for 1min of time. Custom Deliveries is <5min a week for a variable good source of income.

Everything else takes more time, but if you want to invest in it, treasure maps, Eureka, crafting, will all get you a lot of money.

Maybe if I could solo maps, or there was a map roulette. Since there isn't maps aren't an option. Unless you mean don't mean the portals, but the actual solo ones. Those give garbage and cost gil just to get without crafting. Not worth it.

Ranting at the community is the worst way to get the community to help you. There's basically no "get rich quick" secret right now, but there are a few methods.

-RMT. Let's be real, this is a thing. There is a reason bots have been rampant for years, they have enough customers to sustain the business. A good number of players are simply buying gil.
-Crafting and Gathering. This is viable but it's a LOT of work to make tens of millions compared to a few years ago.
-Treasure Maps in small groups. Again, a LOT of work for huge sums of gil, but viable.
-Playing the market, buying and reselling. Requires good knowledge of the economy and what you're doing. Not viable for most players.
-Old wealth. Back in ARR to Stormblood crafting took effort to level and gear, but if you made that effort you could earn billions from that point onward.

That's really it. There are other niches, but none of them are faster than crafting/gathering. There is no other secret gil method.

Tens is nothing these days tbh. It comes down to the fact that you need money if you want to make money. If you just stare at whatever you have, it'll obviously won't go up as much as you might want. I believe things use to be much more easier before server travel was a thing. Before that, you could have a monopoly on specific items and make other sellers cry when they thought they could get a piece of the pie.

• Travel between Data Centers and buy/sell at 4-10x. Don't bother doing this on the same DC. You can bring a billion or two over to Mana/Gaia/Elemental and turn it into five or six billion within a week.
  
• Purchase all the cheap items that retainers tend to bring back and stash them away for a year+. Eventually, those items are moved out of the list of items retainers bring back...
  
• Spiritbonding in Urth's Fount.
  
• Trading houses.
  
• Submarines.
  
• Finding very niche markets that are overlooked by most. Basically, no need to keep up with the brand new items unless you want to compete with 20 other people camping the summoning bell.
  
• Sell primed grade 3 wheels of confrontation when an expansion comes around.
  
• Offer to power level Free Companies.
  
• Desynthesis
  
• Befriend known social players on your server/DC and be the person they refer to when they say they know a guy who knows a guy. These people or their friends always have some sort of odd request and with enough time, they'll go directly to you to help them out with whatever they want. That also allows you front row tickets for whatever drama that might entail.

You don't have to put a ton of effort into it. Just have to be smarter than the next guy (not very difficult).

I've never joined any, but it seems fairly straightforward. I usually just do them with 3-4 friends.

1. Look for items that are selling on the market board that you yourself can supply.
2. Look at the item's history on the market board. See what sort of demand there is for that item and how often that item is selling. Fast easy sells is far better than a high end product that sells for a million or more
3. Keeping your retainer stocked with a verity of popular product.

Some people have talents. House decorating, drawing portraits, general entertainments as a service they offer and earn gil.
Gil is not something that just drops in your lap. There are many ways to earn it if you put a real effort into it.
