It's okay to take breaks, fam.
This.
I think people are too used to games nowadays being designed to borderline force you to have '' daily engagement ''.
Even fighting games like MK11 are beginning to become designed with stuff to '' incentivize '' you to login every single day...
FFXIV is full to the brim of activities and social stuff, it just doesn't punish you for not doing it.
Which most games do nowadays.
And I think to a lot of people it makes them feel like '' why should I do it if I don't have to? ''.
Well...
I think that question is sort of a problem in and of itself.
The things you mentioned are in FFXIV too not to mention that old content ages better in FFXIV ( also how many people totally neglect Bozja and Eureka and never give them a real chance? ).The thing is, WoW just does it better. There are far more mounts and minions, a proper mount/pet tab, the whole toybox, a glamour dresser that holds every glamour, a miles better achievement system, lots of interesting achievements, ridiculous amounts of old content that can be soloed, pet battles and so on.
Not saying "WoW good, ff14 bad", it has plenty of faults, but in terms of fluff content filler WoW is (or was) more fun. Not to mention ff14 has developed a mindset where showing off accomplishments is considered evil and everything is either 10 minutes and done or 500 hours that no one cares about and will look down on you for if you're proud to earn it, so what's the point? There's zero prestige in earning most things in ff14, it's just not worth countless hours.
FFXIV also has stuff like the Gold Saucer and card games that are really popular and imo Fate trains can actually be quite a lot of fun especially if you do it with people you know.
FFXIV also has less RNG than WoW which I think is part of why it makes some stuff like mounts less '' prestigious '', which I don't exactly think is a bad thing too much RNG sucks ass and is unfun imo.
But there are still mounts you can get and show off.
I don't rly think it's true in WoW either tho, this is an old MMO thing that died out in WoW too.
It's just not the same as in Vanilla anymore, even in WoW Classic.
Seeing someone with an Epic weapon or mount simply isn't impressive or as unique anymore.
WoW definitely has a better glam system, but imo WoW also has really boring gear that makes for little variety.
FFXIV has significantly more variety in gear that makes for more imaginative and creative glams.
And FFXIV also has a way better FC ( Guild ) system and FC's are generally way more active and fun to be in, even just random FC's still tend to have FC events and frequently have a FC house.
Guilds in WoW are generally quite dead and feels more like a glorified friends list.
Edit: Oh and Palace of the Dead and Heaven on High...
And a much more fun profession system ( also fishing is pretty fun and has ton of events ).
Srsly tho most of the time when I watch WoW streamers play they're mindlessly running around killing open world mobs.
I think that a problem in FFXIV is that people don't expand their horizons enough.
While in WoW the content is more simplistic and just standard '' go out and kill '', easier to get into.
But also ultimately less fun and more repetitive imo.
Edit 2: Oh yeah lol, and we have more emotes that you can also find and unlock/ grind for.
But yeah I am sure people can think of more.
But emotes are a lot of fun to play around with.

WOW tried that. Called it Torghast. Did they use FF 14's model? for deep dungeons?Edit: Oh and Palace of the Dead and Heaven on High...
Oh nonononono, God no, they'd NEVER make it fun..they tied player power to it, made it mandatory.
Its failure and waste of time. Basically another chore you are forced to do to craft and upgrade your legendaries/conduits…One in a very long , growing list of failures, you mean. The thing is, WoW just does it better.
FF14 does not have a toybox, it doesn't have pet battles, achievements are simply far worse and the minion/mount tab badly needs an update. It's not the same and while you can say FF14 has tons of content it's just my opinion that WoW used to do that better. I spent hundreds of hours collecting mounts, pets, toys and achievements in WoW but I just can't get into it in FF14. I've tried, I've collected EX mounts, completed multiple of every expansions relic, played triple triad ...but it just feels pointless for some reason. The things you mentioned are in FFXIV too not to mention that old content ages better in FFXIV ( also how many people totally neglect Bozja and Eureka and never give them a real chance? ).

As I said, I'm not saying WoW's better. After all I'm here posting on the ff14 forums and quit WoW a while ago. The nail in the coffin with WoW was when they added the 30th renamed rat or snake pet and when they started removing massive chunks of content once they were no longer current. It was bad enough when they started deleting legendary questlines which were full of lore, but taking a break, coming back and finding out 5-6 mounts and a few pets for my collection, the end of the Legion storyline, the burning of Teldrassil and a few other things were simply deleted for me was just going too far. I never went back after that.
I appreciate that ff14 doesn't do that, the only thing I dislike is their habit of moving past event items to the cash shop, which means a new player is going to have to pay cash to fill out a collection.
Again, I'm not saying ff14 sucks, but in my opinion the filler content badly needs some QoL, incentives and developer attention. It could be so much better.
