When the system launched and Empyreum opened, the crowding was not this bad even on individual wards. If they'd opened every ward to individual purchases, they could have had a pretty healthy system for several cycles until things got to this point. Instead they did the dumbest thing possible and only really made 6 wards available, so we're seeing pic related on the second bidding cycle when this shouldn't have been an issue for a long time. Mediums in empyreum FC zones with 0 bids, while mediums in individual wards of pretty much any other housing area are exploding. Solo FCs built with this problem in mind are about 3 weeks old now, and soon they'll absorb the FC wards, effectively making the difference between an individual ward and an FC ward completely moot. Square continues to say nothing on this, while spending all of their time taking the game down for pvp issues.

The frustrating part is the system itself would've been fine for a while, but Square just made one braindead addition to it that ruined everything at the last minute. In the long term, the lottery system would have ended up like this. But we arrived here in one month because square sped it up by being stupid about individual ward allocations. Saying this as someone who's always just wanted instanced housing, for whatever it's worth. Lotto's not perfect, but it shouldn't have been this bad this soon.
Also, the number in the top picture seems especially high but that's also partly because it is the most sought after location out of every plot in the game. If you go to the medium plots in Goblet, you can probably find houses with less than 20 bids.
