New hrothgar hairstyles are really bad.

Welp, I gave up and went back to having my ears +old mane style back. I really missed having earrings to accent my outfits and most of my favorite glams look better with some headgear than none. I tried to keep positive, but it just looks goofy/bad even with replacement ears as head gear. I want a fix because I really like having access to more options, but I have no faith in it getting fixed, especially with the still prevalent hat issue. I have a retainer full of hats I want to wear and an armoire full of seasonal items I'm not able too. It's all so tiring.

The only staff interaction the forums got was a thread full of homophobes being locked and that was a GM not the community manager.

And even that took about a month to be dealt with despite being a League of Legends level cesspool of vile. I'm fairly certain the amount of hostile/troll comments and threads have been increasing lately because people are testing how far they can get away with until/unless stopped, like a classroom without a teacher.

Thus is the way of Hrothgar for the time being. A part of me hopes that with femhroth supposedly coming in 7.0 and the large want for it, only then will hrothgar be treated correctly

I highly doubt it. Given how Male Vieras got implemented, I would not be at all shocked that Square shoves Female Hrothgar somehow worse than we currently are.

I have zero faith in this dev team at the moment. Sure the game has its good stuff, praise where praise is due, but this is a glaring flaw on their basic levels and everyone is treating it like it isn't. And it's not even farfetched or hard to understand why when they themselves have said as much:




Square Enix themselves said that they wouldn't want this to happen. That fun comes first, they would aim to amaze, they would not forget their roots, and take their complaints twice as much in stride as a compliment. That they'd pat themselves on the back for their good efforts, yes, but work to meet the stuff they truly would lack in.

Hrothgar players have not had fun in 3 years. They've been disgusted at the latest announcements, many even feeling abandoned. That Square forgot their promises just to go for what was popular. And that they congratulate themselves too much for minor stuff while the really important things of interest to the playerbase is put on the backburner. Players found out that they did no hard work, but rather rushed whatever they could so they could say "see, we did something, just shut up and take it".
We know life isn't easy for anyone, and we're not demanding excellency from a company that has so far been honestly pleasant when it comes to its MMO in comparison to others. But it is clear they're ignoring criticism now.

Though, frankly, we should demand excellency. We paid for this game. We pay for subscriptions. We pay for fantasias to change to Hrothgar and engage with Hrothgar-aimed lore and content.

We pay for the game overall. And for all that's worth, it is rather good, especially in comparison to other MMOs of its kind.
That said. Our experience IS limited by the race we choose to play, and the devs look allergic to tackle that issue.

Any Hrothgar who buys a fantasia is being swindled.

I am so tired of this, it has been almost 2 months without even 1 update on the matter.
People are changing and/or leaving cause 3 years of dismissal had been more than they can take.
I wish to get some acknowledgement, we are paying like everyone else, why are we treated like less than dirt? Why does a company see fit to cut corners, when those corners are the players. People will argue that they are cutting Hrothgar not players, but the players are their characters, that is our character, our self-insert, our "self" in the world of FFXIV. So they are cutting players.
In the time he was grinding for the max rank in CC on every server, couldn't he take the time of roughly 3 matches (15 minutes +/- the overtime) to write just 1 statement of:
"We had seen the feedback of the player-base and together with our art and tech departments came up with "X" solution, we hope this will please the player base, we had heard you and we will work to stay in updated so this mistake will never cause so much distress on our players. We will start the implementation of the solution from this moment, we are very sorry that our previous update regarding the Hrothgar hairstyle was subpar, we hope to make amends for this let-down with the new solution that will be implemented in patch 6.x. We apologise again and hope to win back the trust that we lost."

I think that is what the majority of us want to hear from them. (But I can only speak for myself)

I'd rather see actions being taken over potentially empty words (again). The very least they can do is hotfixing the 6.1 hairstyles by unamputating the ears

Yep. The waifu of the plot is a BLM, BLM does massive amounts of damage both PVE and PVP. All the mounts are designed around looking good for Lala's (see: nier pod mount), armour that has hoods and hats that cover the whole head always adapt for lalafell ears or even have custom models where the ears fit in/bulge out.

There is a clear bias. It's actually getting to the point where it's like... you don't want a multiplayer game, Yoshi-p. You just want to look cool and have a bunch of slobbering fans watching.

Unfortunately that's what he's having. People thirsting over the designated waifu and husbando catboi and catgirl (respectively. I know what I said.) with their new and expressive animations on ears they don't need to clip to make gear for. Meanwhile actual players are given the Fellowship system. Thanks Yosh.

Like, we have an area exclusive for Lalafells, we have furniture that only works if you're a Lalafell, you have content that isn't finnicky at all if you're a Lalafell. Here's the thing: without the use of illegal add-ons, do you know as a Roegadyn and Hrothgar player EXACTLY where the tiny dot on your hitbox is to dodge AoEs with the least amount of movement? Because I sure as hell don't, and I don't think a lot of players are aware either. Yet we need to know exactly where to stand to dodge certain AoEs. It isn't necessarily hard to dodge E9's AoE where you only have a tiny triangle of safety, but the larger your character is, the dodgier it is to understand if you're in it or too far out. So while it's not hard, it is harder than on other races.

Because here's the thing, Yoshida, some players DO actually like their game to be challenging and shouldn't have to go play Ultimate to feel that. And there are things people do to play more optimally, because they care enough to do so. And other races should also be aware of what will hit them and what will not, and not be punished for having a waist larger than Zenos's arse.

Lalafell players are also frankly irritating with the whole "It's clear we're the superior race" bull. Yeah, meme all you want, the game is going to shit for everyone else, and you're part of the problem. Stop validating the dev's own personal biases when it could end up being a problem for the rest of the game. People need to tell them to stop designing stuff around Lalafell more often. Because it's not just large-bodied characters that end up getting the short stick, it's everyone else. Especially when it comes to glamour.

I wish Yoshida actually did play other races than just his own. His own stupid lalafell should NOT be the one thing he uses the most on Live Letters and demonstrations. Cool you like Lalafells, but keep it to yourself, Yoshida. Play something else! Show Viera and Hrothgar a bit more, show Au Ra and Elezen more! Because at this point you're just making the game for one group of people. And that's just not fair on everyone else. Why should we have to pay for other people to have more enjoyment than we do?
