I'd just like to say that after starting as all classes through Alpha/Beta and settling on MRD for the release, I consider myself a MRD at heart.

I stuck with it when it was considered a sub-optimal DD and a sub-optimal tank, because I knew its strength lay in the massive bursts of TP it could generate with broad and full swing.
I knew I shone at Dodore and Goblin NM if nothing else.

I stuck with it when AA was released and MRD was nerfed by putting broad/full swing on a 30/60s recast. I knew I could tank Ifrit and clear strongholds.

I failed to stick with it after Class Revisions, I wanted to, but I felt like I was swinging an axe made of foam with an AOE WS every 30 mins.

Being a MRD at heart, I was heartened to see the patch notes for 1.21 show the Steel Cyclone was 30 secs. Without Keen flurry, anything higher would have made WAR worse than MRD. I saw the combo bonus was critical chance, but I didn't put that together in my head with Rampart until I first used it.

Nirvana. I was back in the groove again. True to SE's job outline, WAR truly was an off-tank, thriving on being the centre of attention, absorbing hits while rampart effect increases then realeasing an AOE WS into the throng, letting the critical hits heal back some of the massive HP pool.

It's not overpowered like the keen flurried Storm's Path MRD of a few patches ago, but it is just powered enough to let me walk confidently into a stronghold as the class I love again, not timidly firing off a few nukes before the mob reaches me on THM as I was forced to before.

Let the other jobs have their backflips, their enhanced running speeds, their sleepgas. I get to stand my ground and make the mobs run instead.

tl;dr: The job feels like it was supposed to be again. Not invincible, not the top DD, but competent and robust.
