I'm going to admit, I may indeed be terrible at delivering the message, but I see my point has reached you and that's what I care most about.
Parodies can still be racist, and I'm not saying this as someone who doesn't even follow the series. I've been reading it for 10 years.
And I'm just using him as an example of a larger trend. Japanese artists tend to draw black people in particular in very interesting ways, although they have gotten a lot better about it in recent times (MHA, Bleach, Naruto, to name a few).
...hell, that trend might be what OPM was parodying with him.
ayyy finally someone who understands how stupid that argument is, good jobI'm not an expert on Japanese culture, but it's safe to say that none of you are either. So when you are making sweeping generalizations on what is Japanese culture and what is not, you sound like an idiot. And cultural colonization is quite the interesting topic to throw as an argument when you consider how religious values have affected the depictions and treatment of sexuality and sexual minorities in media and on a societal level, even in cultures where said religions are in clear minority or non-existent. So I'd be careful when it comes to throwing around the term cultural colonization in this argument, when we live in a global world where certain factions, superpowers and systems have a very broad influence globally and the power to dictate cultural norms that don't spawn organically from inside the culture itself.
This, of course, works both ways..
It's more like a very vocal minority in the US (and to a lesser degree elsewhere in the west) that has an out-sized presence on sites like Twitter and Reddit, rather than US gaming community values, let alone European ones, but I agree otherwise; well put.
When the game's story becomes self-aware:
I agree. This feels like a very liberal thing to post about, especially noting the "untapped potential". It doesn't sound like anything an actual non-caucasian might say. It's unnecessary and it doesn't help anyone other than the person that feels like they're standing up for someone "less fortunate".
I mean how exactly can you know how a specific ethnicity will speak?I agree. This feels like a very liberal thing to post about, especially noting the "untapped potential". It doesn't sound like anything an actual non-caucasian might say. It's unnecessary and it doesn't help anyone other than the person that feels like they're standing up for someone "less fortunate".
Also liberal doesn't equal bad nor does right wing
This is such a ridiculous assumption.I agree. This feels like a very liberal thing to post about, especially noting the "untapped potential". It doesn't sound like anything an actual non-caucasian might say. It's unnecessary and it doesn't help anyone other than the person that feels like they're standing up for someone "less fortunate".
I'm just going to say as a PoC myself, this issue isnt an issue for me because I made one of my WoLs a dark skinned Highlander and Im already fine with that since you're the most important person in this game anyway lol
I just don't understand why they made Y'sthola paler with every expansion. Especially Shadowbringers, where she spent years in perpetual Sunlight. She couldn't have spent ALL of her time in that dinky little cave.
