Its definitely a forgotten system. We still don't even have the maximum rank.

IIRC this came up in an interview a while back and the answer was something along the lines of "since GCs don't really do anything right now there's no point in adding more ranks until we decide what to do with them."

I just wish the devs would give Ishgard a grand company we can join.

Ishgard has a standing army so it doesn't need adventurers and mercenaries the way the others do.

Ala Mihgo doesn't have the infrastructure for such a thing. They're only recently freed and without a real central government it's still just the rebels and local militias (and for the REALLY big problems they just call the WoL back.)

I'm sure something will happen eventually. Maybe make some harder content tied to GCs with cool gear? Like maybe a tutorial system to get would-be casual players to dip their toe into savage or something?
