Do you think they'll ever remove the Grand Company Restrictions?

This system is a relic of a time when the game was pretty bare-bones, but is completely irrelevant today, and serves only as a headache.

The nonsense gear restrictions, and arbitrary time limitations imposed when switching are all silly and don't do anything to make the game better, not to mention lore-wise Grand Companies aren't important anymore.

I do agree it shouldn't be a harang to unlock and get your chocobo. Going to the three starter cities is also...padding ish. But I do not want the things I do use deleted. The grand company has gear, loot boxes, materials, and a bunch of other things I use regularly. I wont say the other thing because square has forgotten it and I want it to stay forgotten because they will take it away because no fun allowed.

Edit: Oh and it a stop gap though a silly one but one that makes another hurdle for bots to go through to purchase a house.

Sure I don't want them taken away, just have them updated, especially for Endwalker players, the GC still treat you like a nobody adventurer who is ranking up and fighting in their pseudo civil war thing.

Aye, the only time they kind of treat differently is in very specific dialogue. There was the mistbeard hullbreaker quests where they mention your ranking, and only random times I think during the story. Unsure if they do later on, but when first doing titan hard or extreme they say your ranking with them. It gets sad when getting into some of the quests if you are from other grand companies because you are just an adventurer again. I was hoping after The Ghimlyt Dark after being invited to peace talks you would be considered a General or something. The writing seems like it wants our characters to want to be called an adventurer to be left alone or something like that, but I would even accept Titansbane catching on >.< I might just be spoiled with other games, and for the most part the continuity throughout quests can get really amazing. For example Ampador hard with the teaser for shadowbringer, and some side quests connecting. There are some examples that are similar to the grand companies. There is a quest line in tail feather where you help a bunch of hunters. Later when you speak to them doing to Vath beast tribe quests they just refer to you as some random shmuck. It was like all of them forgot everything. At least the moogle still refers to me as their best post person.

I just think the dynamic between the 3 GCs doesn't make sense as you get farther into the MSQ.

It's like "Hey I just flew to the edge of existence and saved every being that will ever live can I wear this hat from the other grand company that doesn't even really exist anymore because we combined them all? Oh No? O-Ok..."

Didnt realize people would care to switch. I just stayed with Maelstorm and called it a day. Dont give 2 cents about the other smelly GCs and their uniforms.

lol, fair enough, but there are some neat items that some have that others don't, and you can't get them if you don't switch.

True. Though Gold Saucer was in the same boat for many years. Hopefully Grand Companies will get the same treatment.

And upgrade to the system allowing us to at some point during one of the expansions allowing us to just be a freelancer for all the companies would be nice. Like how you can be for PvP.
