Well ive played arr since beta phase 3 and my main account is perma banned from the forums of which im lvl 90 in most classes with about 5 alts quite high !

Also by the looks of youre join date of 2022 you should be staying in your lane and not second guessing how much i may or may not know about ffxiv !!

because most likely ive been playing playing alot longer than you !

then you kinda answered the million dollar question if it never gets brought up then whats the purpose of addons then !!

i find it kinda hard to believe in 8 years you have never been in a group that has not brought up dps or that of other players or maybe the groups have never used dps addons or are respectful which can be rare in ffxiv some times !!

The purpose is for end game to gauge dps checks and see your own personal performance. Most people that use parsers in end game don't give a damn about your performance in dungeons. I pugged end game content for years and no, I've never seen anyone ever bring up any mention of DPS numbers in PF or DF.

i got put in ffxiv jail once for a run in with some arsehole in a dungeon who reported me for swearing even though the arsehole baited me and was the cause pulling mobs constantly and being a absolute d..k ..

is that just or fair either way i got the ban and took it !!

my main account has been perma banned from the forums over same sex marriage argument that got heated back when the eternal bonding was introduced no names were called they singled out my 3 posts and warned me on all 3 and banned before i knew i even got a first warning on a post

seriously how do they individualize every complaint every exploit every win swap every addon used on a day to day basis over how many millions of players ?

I think Xeno had it right in that it's kinda sus that SE waited until now to start banning people for third party add-ons when the wave of new players is more or less over versus when all the wow streamers were building ff14 hype streaming with their completely modded UIs and whatnot.

Seems like SE doesn't see it as much of a monetary loss now that it could have been if they banned the streamers flaunting add-ons last year when player counts were being boosted by them.

SE isn't actively looking at streams. These bans were the results of groups brigading and mass reporting streamers.
