If the most console centric gamer nation in the world hates mods and addons the most in the world then that has to be proof console people need to chill out and stop being jealous about not getting the same stuff a machine that costs 5 times more gets.
Like geeesh, its bad enough that the potential of any multiplatform game is held back by console limitations, but that they act like this is... kind of disgusting. Worse still, seeing how many threads lately that try to skew addons as some sort of easy win, despite there being very few addons actually endorsed by the modding community that actually offers anything like thatm tells me this absurd behaviour is leaking out into the wide populace as well.

The amount of hatred some people can harbor is unbelievable. To this day one of the biggest questions I have is just what has happened in these peoples lives that they derive so much joy from ruining others. Imagine being a person who derives meaning in life, and willfully spends their time and life with the sole objective of destroying another.

I somewhat remember someone using body/gpose mods and were "unilaterally excluded from the game or content/community" by them in JP

It got worse as 5chan started going after people acquainted with them.

Well it sucks if he was innocent (at the time he was permabanned) but I generally don't like putting my full faith into a one-sided story. If it's 100% true then SE deserves a slap on the wrist for making a bad call. Bad calls happen every once in a while.

this is funny. I hate addons a lot, and feel they are cheating. I am in no way Japanese.

its not a culture clash at all.. WoW made it virtually mandatory to run mods because it was about the only way to get any QoL improvements to play the game. period. the western player base is not more "liberal" its that they are used to using them without repercussions. in fact, many western players think theirs is the ONLY way a game should be run. They could care less about any other part of the world. I am sure you have been around forums long enough to realize this.

This is a Japanese game, run by a Japanese company. its theirs, end of story. It will typically be run under a Japanese culture. the clash is basically... westerners, especially in the US, fail to realize this.

Personally, I like their stance on addons. I would love it if they actually did more about the bots and the gil buyers but time will tell. western players dont need "slack", they need a dose of reality and the idea that the world does not revolve around them.

Same here i agree with you on that. I personally dont inderstand why its so hard for players to just not use them. But unfortunately its partly the world we live in that people dont like being told that they cant do something or that there are rules that even they should fallow.

As someone who plays on both PC and console and has never used mods, I seriously don't care if someone does use mods unless they are being used to provide the player with an unfair advantage. By and large, it seems the amount of modders that do this is extremely low and the majority of mods are done for QoL and fluff purposes.

All in all, I wish that people would chill out with all this stuff, especially SE. I just want things to chill out.
