I mean, either you're fighting 8 people for a piece of gear or you're hoping that 1 out of the 2 gear pieces is the one out of 3 (?) possible types and is 1 out of the 7 sets of gear. I feel like it's less frustrating to lose a roll for something than it is to run through it and have it not show up at all also.

When the normal raids first came out I spent hours running the same fight over and over just to get a chest piece token. Tokens are nice, but at the same time its not that great fighting the entire group on a roll. Alliance raids are also not a primary way through gear progression so overall I believe the current system is perfectly fine. You still get a coin at the end of the raid to go towards getting your 600 gear.

For those unaware, in each savage floor when you clear you get a book, once you have enough you can exchange them for pieces of gear specific to that boss, and so it acts as rng insurance so you’ll be able to get any item you want/need with enough time/kills.

I understand not wanting to add tons of currency to the game but I don’t think adding a token for the alliance raids would be excessive.
Erm...You get a coin when you finish the alliance raid that functions similar to the books.

I think he knows about the coin, but they obviously don't do the same thing.

They don't do the same thing at all. Savage tokens are a secondary way of acquiring the specific gear pieces that drop from the savage raid. Alliance coins are only for upgrading an unrelated piece of gear.
