But the question is why only enforce it now when people have been streaming for years with plugins, mods and ACT on? Is it because the game now has a lot more views because of PvP and the Ultimate and they need to make a good impression?
The real solution is easier. Quit giving SE free advertisement and never stream the game again. If they're too lazy to take into account QoL, and too sensitive to JP brigades, then why should I care?

Yes; That's exactly the reason why. It is performative.
So many people are watching the Ultimate progression that there are possibly hundreds/thousands of people that would say "Wait, what is that thing they have? That looks great, I'm going to go and download it." Then, the butt hurt console players will complain because they are playing a "worse" version of the game since they can't download mods like that. Also, the people who "lost" the DSR world race will complain that the "winners" had an unfair advantage.
If they hadn't done something, then everyone would see that they have no teeth and don't care. They were FORCED to do something.
It's similar to being bullied in school. If you just let the bully do something, then they and other bullies will "know" that you won't do anything about it. If you stand up and punch one in the face once then you won't need to deal with being bullied (as much).

Or not use them at all lol simple as that.
HMM I wonder if its because this game got very popular all of sudden! HMMMMMMMM I DONT KNOW!
Also they could've done this at any time. People knew the risks and got too complacent. Like somebody already said, play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

I'm glad we've solved everything now tbh. Everyone using UI mods will now get the UI improvements they wished for straight into the game and everyone upset about other people using ACT and UI mods will now be able to rest easy, knowing that no one will use them anymore.
We only have to wait until 9.1!
