Kupo!
Eh, feels like nothing is going to change regarding third party tools. Don't do anything obviously stupid with them and you'll be fine.
Seems like "someone" here needs to learn what the word "illegal" means. "contrary to or forbidden by law, especially criminal law." for your interest and no the ToS are not the law. Yes there are countries where modding is illegal, japan one of these countries. But in the rest of the free world, where SE sells their game, this is not the case. That's why the modding community is present in NA/EU and not JP, where the stuff is not "illegal". It's against the ToS tho and SE has the right to their own property like a shop owner has the right to kick you out when you start painting the walls red cause you hate blue.
But here is the trick, certain behavior is tolerated since the dawn of time around the globe cause it gives...money! And you know who likes money? Right! Shareholders! Managers! Investors! And you know what they all have in common? Right! They don't care about your hurt feelings! So better start chugging down fantasia like a catboi when male viera were released onto this world. Cause you clearly don't leave enough money in the cashshop to justify such actions, since all the roleplayers (which obviously use mods for obvious reasons) leave probably more money in the cashshop than the game makes in subs and as long as this is the case they will NEVER take actions against modding.
But yeah it's fun throwing around wrong terms to create hysteria.
None of those mods were mentioned in the post by Yoshi-p, he specifically called out mods that give an advantage in content (ACT and callout programs that work through ACT) and those that spoof packets (xivalexander and noclippy).Seems like "someone" here needs to learn what the word "illegal" means. Those are the ones being targeted, not model replacement mods that RPers use.
Get wrecked people who cheat
That is clear to me but you can well read that the one i quoted called for banning everyone using mods. Which is just a silly idea, most people are using mods nowdays, SE would have to ban more than half of their playerbase and every single community the players have build around the game. This would happen if SE introduces an anti cheat software, cause that software doesn't differentiates between people just running shaders to make their screenshots look nicer and people running scripts etc. to literally cheat in pvp. Would be like dropping a nuke on a city cause there is one criminal hiding between millions of people.None of those mods were mentioned in the post by Yoshi-p, he specifically called out mods that give an advantage in content (ACT and callout programs that work through ACT) and those that spoof packets (xivalexander and noclippy).

I am also against cheaters ofc, they need to be targeted. Especially those ruining the fun for others, like in pvp.
4 Scrambled eggs on toast levels of wreck.
Can't wait for nothing to actually change. I better get ready and look forward to it, while I continue to admire the work that the modding community does to make the game more palatable for others.
Thing is, DBM and WeakAuras have become something of a necessity due to Blizzard not polishing their own UI properly to be workable even in a raid environment, and instead rolling it off to the community to fill the gaps. And we already saw the problems that come with those, forcing players to have certain add-ons or risk exclusion from raids. Not to mention the drama about weakaura macros that automatically did /spit on those who were using deluxe edition mounts on classic. That said, I don't miss DBM. There is a line you can cross where an addon goes from QoL or self improvement to a straight up advantage over playing the intended way. Addons that call out mechanics before they even happen, show telegraphs when there normally aren't any or automatically assign markers are crossing that line imo. I don't think players are automatically "bad" for using them, but we don't need them in the game either.
Auto markers for Titan gaols is one of those things where SE dropped the ball too. They admitted that mechanic was badly designed and never fixed it.
I wonder if the people that make "weapon showcase" style videos use data mining and if they're in trouble now.
They use a screenshot tool with which you project the weapon onto other weapons, so it basically just changes the skin of the current weapon to what you select. Which is kinda sad for the ultimate raiders cause people can that way just use all the ultimate skins in screenshots but it's client sided so the bragging rights still lie with the people who actually cleared the raids, which most of the time is staying somewhere afk in limsa.
