What's the point with that quite lackluster story in Endwalker?

I also find it odd that we apparently spoke our recollection rather than they all just use the echo to see our memories and we see what that looks like from the outside perspective for a change. Takes like 2 seconds then we continue the conversation. Nah let's talk and fade to black.

Then how would they showcase their animated steaming tea that goes cold because we are talking so long that everyone has forgotten to drink it?
