My expectations for island sanctuary are rock bottom. The writing was on the wall when devs started dialing it back hard and basically began begging the players to curb their enthusiasm for it. This isn't gonna be some Animal Crossing meets Stardew Valley meets Final Fantasy XIV thing. But a lot of people I know are expecting just that.
Hell, just look at Ishgard housing and how that turned out. I know people who were waiting since 5.0 for that to hit. They did all the restoration stuff too. Some of them even got homes in other wards and didn't decorate at all so they could relocate to a nice Ishgard plot without tearing anything down. Just sat in an empty house and waited. 5.3, nothing. 5.5, nothing. 5.55, nothing. 6.0 "you can view it." 6.1 we finally get it, and then -- well, we all know how it turned out. They couldn't even get a house there because SE only allowed individuals to buy from 6 wards. Imagine waiting years for something so basic and not getting it. Temper your expectations always. Even the devs are warning us to keep our expectations low.
That being said, as long as we're talking about expectations, some things I'd love would be 300 furniture spots in apartments, a patio space for gardening, an increase in CWLS limits to 200 people, a "last logged in on X date" function for CWLSes, a friends system that deletes me from your list if I delete you from mine, a general "Friends" chat channel that broadcasts my text to a channel visible by everyone on my friends list, the power to tie hairstyles to glams, the ability to change glam plates anywhere in the world including dungeons, an actual barefoot option and not just ugly sandals, and so much more QoL stuff that games like maplestory were able to do in 2003. So I'm not immune to wanting nice things and being disappointed. But for island sanctuary at least, even the devs are going out of their way to tell people not to get hyped. I will keep my expectations low and just hope I'm wrong.
