Full blown exploration zones seems unlikely this time around (though I'd venture they/it will be in the Void if they are with the MSQ basically acting as us establishing a base camp of sorts there). We do, however, have 3 pieces of known upcoming content that seem likely to be tied into the new relic weapons; a new Deep Dungeon, the Criterion Dungeon(s) and Island Sanctuary. DD and Criterion seem obvious enough as methods to earn at least parts of the relic progression requirement. IS, though, feels like it could be tied in as a sort of casual friendly way to access the Relic mats. Maybe DD and CD will be the "faster but harder" way to do it while IS will be the "longer but easier" way. Though I'm pretty sure we'll still see at least some of the progress tied to FATEs, Dungeons, 24 mans, Raids, etc. as we have before too.
It's going to be HW fates, and if we're veeeeeeeeeeery lucky, SB fates. But since SB isn't part of the f2p experience, I guess it will be (again) HW fates and CT spam x200. But the very first step will be a 1 time 10 minutes instance, then 500 memo/extra weapon. Previously, it was 1k, but think of the sPrOuuutsss. 1k is way to much for them.
Oh and they might add something for the lore, and maybe a new zone, but we all know in advance that the most effective way to get the relic done will be outside of it. Because booo those poor casuals hate grind.
Yes I'm pre salty, but I can't trust SE after what they did with the ShB first relic steps.
If anything, Hildebrand had our three trial series in ARR. They just didn't get Extreme versions.Technically the Primals in post ARR filled the same role. In an effort to cutdown post game msq length they made the decision to move trials out of the MSQ. If they continued with the ARR model, the MSQ would keep stopping to go deal with the Warring Triad/Auspices/weapons, much like ARR would often advance the city states story and then stop and shift over to a primal. There were at least two storylines going on in ARR.
Now I want Gilgamesh Extreme.
It would be nice if the new relic questline and the relic zones are tied to the MSQ instead of being side content.
Of course farming the relics themselves is optional.
Dunno, what's left on Emet-Selch laundry list?
Maybe the new deep dungeon is connected to it? or the criterion dungeons? maybe you grow your weapon on Island Sanctuary, like a cabbage.
Byregot's going to be making them, and dragging Gerolt along as an apprentice.
The new relics will be tied to the Hildebrand story, requiring us to entreat the aid of Godbert, crafting mighty weapons of legend as only a Mandervile Man can.
