What's the point with that quite lackluster story in Endwalker?

Thats terrible writing to you. To me it shows there's more going on in the world and the center focus isn't always just me the player. Gives the world more life to it. But thats also down to viewpoints. And It's really odd to see people throwing around the QnA thing like it's a solid gold point. Not everyone needed that QnA. But again it's the same deal as always, "EW is the worst". It just has to be said 124 times in 54 different ways. On the flip side I don't see the same folks who praise EW, praising EW calling it the best each and everyday.

It has nothing to do with me the player. It has everything to do with them destroying built up plot threads they themselves built up. You’re literally in the EW vent thread. Don’t like it then either click ignore or leave lol. Endwalker does suck. That’s my amazing opinion. Don’t like it put me on ignore. Yes i’m bringing up the QnA, because they had to answer major lore points from 2.0 in it lmao. They couldn’t even explain it in the expansion itself. Maybe if we spent less time talking with stupid twitter rabbits and watching stupid catboys eat burgers, we could have gotten some actual lore.

In what planet are rushed out things axed off-screen before reaching completion "good"? At the very least we should be allowed to talk, theorize and criticize what could have been vs. what we got without triggering people that are really insecure about their videogame story tastes.

Most people experience things in the shallowest way possible, it's not bad to do that. As long as Alisaie is loud and Graha eats his borguers, everything will be okay. I can understand if people that care deeper didn't really came out satisfied.

Oh, you don't get grown men weeping on your youtube recommendations every week? consider yourself blessed. Social media, youtube comments, twitch streams... It's a 24/7 fellating session. To pretend that there's "too much criticism" is nothing short of a joke.

Hell, the reason I started observing these forums was because I saw a random "gamers are angry and besmirching our wonderful Endwalker"* video and my first reaction was "There's a place I can talk about the game without being downvote bombed or threatened? sweet!"

*hyperbole for comedy, but the video did have that vibe.

At the end of the day some of us waited patiently for years for the stuff we enjoyed to get its fair share of time in the spotlight only for the development team to artificially cut out large swathes of their own plans in order to rush to the 'finale' even quicker than they ordinarily would.

With that in mind, speaking up is precisely how such a thing can be salvaged or at least prevented from happening again.

I'd be a lot quieter if not for the weird gaslighting about it being the 'bEsT sToRy EvEr' when it concluded in a similar fashion to the Game of Thrones finale.

As I've said before some will love it. Some won't. Neither are wrong there. I've noticed you're very passive aggressive n mocking toward folk who are the former (ie people you don't agree with) though. "ThIs WhOlE bIt ThAt YoU oFtEn Do"...

End of the day we have no idea what their plans really were. Maybe they didn't see certain things working. Maybe they felt some things should be altered. Hell maybe some stuff sounded good but may not have worked in execution. A Garl expac may have sounded good, doesn't mean it would've been. Who knows. But as I've seen here from some, anything would've been better than EW.

I think the reason why this stuff gets pushback from folks is because these statements often lean heavy into the negative aspect. No nuance or even a peep of anything positive. Some see it as unfair crisitsm and I can't exactly blame them. For example ,"I may not like this story beat but I can say that aspect was good, maybe this needed some work due to xyz but this part here was done well". That doesn't seem to be offered here. It's just full sale EW sucks.

There's a number of people posting in this thread - myself included - who have repeatedly outlined our thoughts as to why we think the story wasn't all that great. Complete with linking established story elements that directly contradict each other as well as official interviews.

There's a reason this thread consists of 439 pages as of the time of this post and to be honest it's exhausting to constantly go back through the thread to find and link them for the hundredth time. By all means, if you're genuinely interested then feel free to read more than just the most recent pages. Or go and post in one of the threads praising the story if you're worried that there's too much 'negativity' in a thread specifically created to ask if people share the OP's concerns about Endwalker's story...

There were a lot of pages where people discussed what did and didn't work as well as a section where people posted re-writes as a fun thought experiment. Does there need to always be praise for the criticism to be legitimate?

There's also been a lot of discussion about the things that Endwalker did well. I would have liked the Garlemald segment to be longer though I didn't dislike it. Elpis was enjoyable for the most part and my criticism towards it is entirely based around the awkward and contradictory cutscene upon the complete of the zone's storyline. Ultima Thule is one of my favourite zones in the game in terms of how it looks - thought hat doesn't mean I didn't find the cheap fake death after fake death to be ridiculous.

Nowhere did I claim there had to be praise for crisitism to be legit. No idea where you're getting that from. I'm simply saying why I feel some people give alot of pushback to these types of threads. That's it
