Would you want account progression?

Sometimes I want to play another race without having to fork out £5 for fantasia, but the work to have a character at the end game to play with friends is too high and would take me at least 3-5 weeks to get passed story without a skip.

The game is very good at placing arbitrary walls in front of you to squeeze more money. This causes more burnout in my mind, and not going to play another game is not an excuse for poor design by game developers.

What other MMO allows you to 'play another race' on an alt without having to work through the leveling process (or pay money for a boost)?

The design of every single MMO I've played has been "You want an alt? Work for it". Suddenly that's poor design?

The only thing different in this game is that you require a separate physical subscription to send things via mail to someone. Given the problems inherent with RMT, that's a good thing.

I suppose that there could be a shared 'bank vault' ... complete with micropayments for every additional slot like games such as Blade and Souls... I don't believe that would go over well with the opposition I read about for the Moogle Store.
