Would you want account progression?

Right now this is about the only MMORPG out there with no account progression. That is any mount, title, minion or achievement you make is bound to your character.

Personally I would love to see this changed, though I understand there are engine limitations preventing it right now... Although I really wish everything bought on Mogstation short of dyes, marriages, fantasias and skips were account bound.

On the flip side some people like not having mounts or achievements on alts and genuinely enjoy the feeling of starting fresh. I can kinda get that too.

(I also know this game doesn't encourage alts, everything is doable on one character. But you can have alts and pay a higher monthly fee for them so it's a valid question.)

To be clear my stance is it would be nice to have the following account wide:

-Mounts
-Minions
-Triple Triad Cards
-Emotes
-Hairstyles
-Titles (Maybe, I can go either way on this since some titles should only be on the character that earned them)
-Mogstation Purchases (except for Eternal Bond, fantasias, dyes, story skips and level skips)

Quicker leveling on alt characters can already be done if you roll on a server running the Road buff and if that's not fast enough, the option to skip with real money from Mogstation is there. Most games only give major skips for money, the exception being Guild Wars 2 but that game has horizontal progression and leveling is the tutorial so it's really its own thing. Leveling alt JOBS on a main is already doable with the armory bonus. If any skip should be done for alt characters on the same account it should be something like Relic, where they are able to tackle weapons with shorter grinds equivalent to your main's weapons for alt jobs and only if the main has already done everything.

i would love account banks for glam/mounts/minions/music and so on. It gets really old having to farm stuff on multiple characters. For the most part i don't because i have too many alts and it's just not worth it to me.

Because your character can be and do everything it's just not a big deal in this game. Quite honestly, I really don't care much as reading this post is the most thought I've ever put into it. I if I had to vote, then as long as it doesn't affect us at all or get promoted as this awesome feature that replaced something much more useful in a patch (hey we did this! be distracted by the fact we didn't add content to do this!) then sure.

Sure but the "This game has bigger issues" argument can be thrown at anything.

In this case though adding account progression would mean fixing things like how inventory is managed in this game which is a nightmare. I think addressing that would be lovely for everyone.

You don't honestly need account progression for that. Just, y'know, make a shared storage area for all your characters on a world.

It's genuinely stupid that if I want to pass something from my main (omnicrafter) character to my (not-a-crafter) alt who I also raid on -- like, say, crafted gear or pots -- I have to hand it off to a friend and have them mail it to my own alt. Or else clear out space in the FC chest and stuff things in there temporarily, log in as the alt, and take it back out.

For minions and mounts and titles, I don't care that much that I get to share them across characters. (Though I do think any minion, mount, or glamour that I bought off the Mog Station with actual real-world money should be account wide, yes. I also think it should be retrievable from the Calamity Salvager if you happen to lose it, rather than forcing you to buy it again. Anyway.)

But in terms of "things shared automatically on the account", just give me some sort of (very limited) shared storage -- or let me access the retainers for one character on the other, if they reside on the same world -- and treat my alt on the same world as being implicitly a tenant on my house. We can invite people to have decorating rights and gardening rights and so on for our houses. We cannot do this for our own alts. And SQEX themselves (rightly) limit housing to one house per account per world, so it's not like they don't know I have at most one house, and no others. So just treat the house as account-wide, please.

That alone would be enough to make me happy.

Mannequin sale -> Sell as set. Tax free for both parties and must be bought from the mannequin itself. Of course that just works for gear but still a heck of a lot easier than involving a 3rd party or trusting the FC chest.

I will confess I had genuinely never thought of that; it's a brilliant workaround for the gear side.

Alas, it does nothing for the more common (for me) case of raid food/pots, but still.

but once again.. you dont need alts.. are you really going to throw away 7+ years of progression on a character to play an alt once DC travel is a thing?

Who are you to decide for somebody else what they need? I need alts otherwise I get bored.

I made the mistake of chasing the Amaro on my combat main. Once I was done leveling what did I have to look forward to? EX & Savage progression with my static that ate my weekend evenings until I burnt out and roulettes that weren't worth running. I did everything that I was even remotely interested in. Took me about three weeks to decorate her house but it's done and I have no desire to change it.

It's only thrown away if you delete the character. We still have minimal details on what DC travel will involve. For instance they may not allow MB trades.

While it would be a nice thing to have it's mostly unnecessary. Since the game is specifically designed around single character progression relatively few people regularly play alts in the first place. The issue just doesn't affect the majority of players.

I definitely agree that shared collections (and especially Mogstation items) would be great, I can also understand why it's not very high priority on the devs' to do list.
