VIERA AND HROTHGAR COMPLAINT MEGATHREAD

Going by what people said when Hrothgar hairstyles were revealed, as unfortunate as the situation may be, people would excuse clipping over stuff being removed\hidden away.

To be fair, with a lot of the headgear the clipping would be pretty ridiculous. I don't just mean ears clipping through hair, or some of the tail clipping. It would look really, really bad on some pieces. Not that there isn't already some pretty ridiculous clipping. In a perfect world they would adjust headgear for the races, or have an alternative variation of select headgear.

Okay, go though the bunch of work done by modders already and name one piece that truly is so ridiculous, Churro. Because let me tell you something, I've seen modders working and keeping people updated. You know the Non La hat we have? When they tried to make it work for Hrothgar, our mane clipped through everything. It looked like the hair was poking through the spaces between the straw (or whatever material it's made of). Guess what happened then: they realized that they needed tweaking and got to it, no more than a couple days later, that was fixed. And I very much doubt that stuff like that took them every hour of said "couple days". They work in their free time.

It isn't being fair. We know how headgear would work on us, all it takes are adjustments. Some minor, some not so minor. But guess what: that's SE's job, they're the ones paid for it. If they could adjust a handful of models to deal with Au Ra horns, then they can adjust for Viera ears. Do they look ridiculous? If everyone can live with Au Ra horns clipping, then they can live with Viera ears clipping.

It would look really, really bad on some pieces. Not that there isn't already some pretty ridiculous clipping. In a perfect world they would adjust headgear for the races, or have an alternative variation of select headgear.

Yeah, it would look really bad. But it might not. And just because it "could" it's a good reason not to? As you yourself admit, there is ridiculous clipping in other races, and it didn't stop at them. Why would it stop at Viera and Hrothgar?

Again: people are fine with clipping because as long as the really glaring issues are addressed (which they can be, and virtually are for all other races anyway), then they can turn a blind eye. It's better than having zero availability whatsoever.

But i dont wanna fight against you guys who just want wear helmets, i just ask these questions to think about, what, why... because that is somehting i have difficulties to understand, that players can not accept a race like it is, the simple fact that this race can not wear every helmet or helmets at all...

Because we want to be able to be like everyone else. At no point did Square Enix make it a guarantee that these races would forever be in this state, nor that with enough fan support they wouldn't get stuff done. Just because you have the option of not wearing helmets or any other complex headgear doesn't mean you shouldn't have the option. You don't know if other people want to try and wear a full helmet themselves.

What if I wanted to cosplay into a Judge of Wings character as a Viera? I have a Judge sort of armour, but I'm not allowed to wear a helmet. Yet everyone else can.

Sure, you don't understand why we can't just let it go. But the answer isn't that complex: it's just sheer availability and fairness. If others can wear it, why wouldn't we? "Because it's too complex"? Square Enix has done more complex stuff than that, and hell! Other MMOs have more complex stuff in their own unique races. So why would this be so different?

You're okay with not wearing headgear yourself? Cool for you, but that doesn't mean it's a standard everyone else should share.

It would look really ridiculous, more so on viera since their ears are adjustable and varied. You can have ears clipping directly through various sorts of accessories and the like. Au ra horns do clip through the same, but it's not as pronounced. It's not necessarily the clipping that's actually keeping them from doing it though, like I've said before, I think it's the precedent it would set. They would have to do more work regularly. Additionally, it seems they want to avoid headgear that requires hat hair, from what people have assumed. Ultimately, I think it really is that they just don't want to do the extra work for these races.
