Not even remotely, considering it comes from SE. I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop: "We're offering this OMG sword, but..." kind of thing. See I've played FFxi for the past five years and I've learned to be suspicious of them.

I am concerned that the use of the Vierra as an example may have artificially tilted the scale in their favor as none of the other potential races offered anything in the way of connections to races that exist in previous final fantasy games and therefore did not leave us with a strong image to associate with the idea. People tend to gravitate toward things that they are familiar with and since to many in this game the Vierra are something people have encountered in other games before, thier inclusion as an example may have artificially tilted the scales a bit.

When I voted I choose mamillian beastmen and noted in the write-in that I specifically wanted Qiqirn to be a new playable race. I believe that the Qiqirn represent an archetype that is unexplored with the current five races; that being the shifty eyed, untrustworthy type that's just as likely to steal all your possessions as they are to help you out of a bind. Additionally they already exist within the world of Eorzea (and Vana'diel for those of you who are purists), making their inclusion as a playable race far less dissonant. Furthermore, Their deigns are already established which means the art team would not have to waste valuable time developing entirely new races from scratch (although knowing how many artists SE has working for them, and the scale of the task at hand I would imagine this is not as big a concern).

Personally, the Qiqirin as a playable race doesn't appeal to me, but darn, this post is really intelligent and spot-on

It was a series of comics made called "Level- up" in my XI days. this pic comes from when a main character mithra in the comics steals veras clothing. all in all the comic was great I loved it very much. because of this I must sshare one more gem (slightly off topic, forgive me)

Final Fantasy has dozens of animal people. You have no idea what you're talking about.

My experience with FF is limited to X plus, so I can't think of one where there was more than one animal race at a time. Pre X I have no idea.

If what Yoshida said about making content based in other FF game worlds becomes reality then you could see Ronso, or Viera and whatever others there were making sense as additions.

I will say I don't think they should add any more races till they add expansion areas that can have their own lore for those races. Adding that horned race from Grid would make sense because its a part of current lore, but adding Viera now would just seem out of place. Forget the empire now we're being invaded by Harvey's stepsisters....

Most games did have only one animal race in your party at a time, barring special circumstances (Moogle army from FFVI comes to mind). FFIX had two though, with Freya (Rat) and Quina (Frog thing, sorta, I guess). FFIX also wins if we count folks who never enter your party, as I recall there was quite a number of varied animal races that made up the various townsfolk. Though, if games outside the main numbered ones count, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2 both allowed you go to battle with nothing but a moogle firing squad of death (Or I suppose you could go with viera, bangaa, seeq, or gria if you wanted the inferior races), barring main missions where you're forced to have the main character and potentially one or two other units in play.

You don't see me asking for a Muscle Bear-Human race because I think that would be sexy. So don't ask for a Boob-bunny race because you think that would be sexy. You already have your Miqo'te for that :P

More customization for existing races and possibly mixed races please!

I voted for more different clans for the current races to allow for more customization. I do like Viera's but I don't want Miqo'te AND Viera in the same game as playable race. I know if they did that, that every server will be mostly filled with Miqo'te and Viera. I'm already tired of seeing Miqo'te EVERYWHERE. And female elezens barely getting any love at all.

I mean we're already going to get female Roegadyn, Male Miqo'te and Female highlander. I really want people to actually play those races/genders as well. Instead of seeing a server population that will end up looking like.

40% Viera
20% the other races

I'm switching to a female Roegadyn come 2.0 if they look anything like Merlwyb Bloefhiswyn.

But a Viera option might make me think twice about that decision.
