I tried an adventure plate, all I saw was a generic head & shoulders pic of my character with no way to change anything, let alone poses. I guess I'll have to check it out again.

Have you tried the "Portraits" feature just under the plate one? That one allows you to take different pics of your character that you can later apply to the plate.

As disallowed as it is I personally haven't heard of anyone facing repercussions for having a lewd plate yet.

(That one person on twitter got banned for having an OnlyFans link in their search info and selling modded, pornographic screenshots using SE's assets on it, before anyone brings her up.)

Also, being the 800th miqote to do the BJ face or showing off their backside isn't what I'd call creativity, but okay.

ToS is always too broad and overreaching, the reason for that is so that if the devs decide to take action then they can.
It's the same with ToS just in general it tends to be as broad as possible and we do a lot of stuff all the time that is technically against ToS ( not to mention stuff like ACT and other addons the devs still allow but are against it ).

I mean also terms like '' respectful '' and '' appropriate '', that's a matter of perspective.
To me a shirtless man and a woman in her bra are the same thing, but to a lot of people they have no reaction to a guy with his shirt off but then there are people who think that even just cleavage on a woman is inappropriate ( I see breasts being compared to genitals all the time, a lot of people legit don't seem to understand that they're not the same ).
And I mean lots of people will find a guy with his shirt off inappropriate too.
Or your character smirking or making a taunting expression, is that disrespectful?

You see how this gets silly very quickly?
The reality is that it's just written this way so that the GM's can take action as they see fit and that's also going to be subject to how they perceive things.

Personally I think people kinda just need to grow the hell up if they get offended by stuff you easily see in Limsa like sexy poses and revealing outfits.
It's just really tiresome to have people who are prudes trying to shut others down all the time and police their fun.
If we're talking about stuff that is actually simulating sex acts then that's different the same way that a sexy pose and revealing clothes are different than actual pornography.

I've definitely seen some examples that I think enters the realms of simulating porn and I can understand those being too much and over the line.
But just a character showing their ass, if that upsets someone and they want to try and police that then just no.
Not everyone plays games to just be generic edgy DRK or PLD in plate armor, not everyone has the same concept of fun and cool.
There needs to be room for people that enjoy the sexy aspect too and it's clearly a part of the game, pornography however isn't.

Edit: Being creative is also not a requisite, a '' butt shot '' is about as creative as 99% of the Adventure Plates.
Very few are honestly all that creative most are very basic, and even less are actually all that unique.
Whether they're creative or not has no bearing on anything.

Personally some of the more suggestive poses people are using seem comical to me since the models aren't good enough quality to actually seem like anything else. It also kind of smacks of desperation to me. Do these people not understand that this is the internet with infinitely more graphic and better quality material out there, why bother with this in a game where it's clearly not the intent?
