That's why I'm asking. Suggestive nudity isn't the same as suggestive sexual act, but is just as likely to be reported.I already got this debat on the French Forum here...
I've used the ticket system to ask the question for "sexual suggestive plates".
Their answer was in accordance with the ToS. Who ever do this and is reported can be banned. And the duration can be infinite.
The reason of this is that SE wish to protect player from Germany, Australia and one other country (New Zealand maybe ? I don't remember) because the game can have young people on it, especially in those country (USK 12 for Germany / ESRB Teen (13+) for others, PEGI 16 in France)
And for that "Naked Thancred" up there... It's lore related and doesn't implies anything sexual. But simulating a sexual act on an adventurer plate is not lore related, nor acceptable by the ToS you all agreed to sign before playing the game.
Honestly im the very next pervert whos into a lot of sh### but really, do you need to pose like a w#### on the pic? cant you just for once being decent and make a nice pic, heck hake the crazy anime angle pic or something if you need to be "special" but not... that lol.
Yeah, no. If you're not going to enforce your own rules don't even waste our time with them. Simple as that. SE wants to put on their big boy pants and actually start enforcing shit, then I'll retract my statement, until then their words dont mean jack shit. You don't need an official response or an opinion to this.
It's in the ToS that player-made suggestive or sexual stuff isn't allowed. This is as official as it gets.
Enforcement doesn't mean jack, it's still in the rules. OP asked for an official statement, they made it before implementing this. That's all there is to it. Just because they don't go around hunting for people doesn't make it any less invalid in their eyes.
Remove customization option from portrait IMO. It was a bad idea.
Just put a Tag on it. Kinda like how the profanity filter works...have a NSFW filter for plates. Have the default set to automatically filter it out so it is YOUR choice to see that stuff. If your Plate isn't marked correctly then yeah throw the TOS at them. If it is marked correctly then go about your business.
Personally FFXIV is NOT my go to place if I'm feeling horny because websites exist for any form of fetish one could desire. To each their own I guess but not for me. If I see the plate that is suggestive...I just don't take that person seriously period.
The thing about a filter is mainly how they would be able to tag these portraits, if they'd be able to do it at all. It'd basically have to be the players themselves who tag their own portraits, and most probably wouldn't do that. And considering the game's rating I sincerely doubt that SE would allow any sort of nsfw content, even if it's just a filter of some kind, if it's within their control. Because that would indicate that this game's rating isn't being adhered to, which would lead to other problems. For the most part I don't really care what people do with their adventure plates, as long as it is within reason. Seriously, I don't. Seeing a Viera in bikini#412141536 is just an average trip to Limsa. lol But anyone walking this line between sfw and nsfw with their adventure plates are only asking for trouble, and it is entirely within their control to stay out of it.Just put a Tag on it. Suggestive doesn't mean softcore, it just means having a degree of attractivness and being made with the intent to provoke attraction. You're not gonna get in trouble for having plates that highlights your characters curves, curves Square created btw, just don't do stuff like taking all your clothes off and angling the camera up at your ass
I highly doubt we'll ever get any sort of hard and fast rules on the exact things that are and aren't allowed. As with all ToS rules, the more they define the rules the more people will try to play chicken with them to get away with as much as they possibly can while still technically not breaking the rules. It also allows SE some leeway in deciding what is or isn't appropriate based on the situation and the context (which, for those concerned, will likely end up with less cases receiving punishment as opposed to more).
It's just a "know it when you see it" sort of thing so if you're thinking of using a portrait but getting worried that it might get you reported, maybe just don't use that portrait.
Ok listen. It's in the rules and they're not enforcing it. That I can concede is a dumb thing on their part.
But the moment they start cracking down on it and reports start actually being taken seriously (which I've seen people on twitter get banned for, by the way), then what you just said crumbles completely.
You can't rely only on enforcement to follow the rule or not. At least you can't rely on it alone. Because then you fall into the idea that there are no consequences "until suddenly there are". Because at any given point there will be enforcement, and the singular justification you'll find is "It's in the ToS".
It's there for a reason. Whether they actively enforce it or not isn't really relevant, because you don't know when they choose to or not to. And if they do, you can't say you weren't warned.
