This would be a very easy way to get me (and I assume many others) to play a lot of older content in order to collect gear sets for jobs that look cool but I never collected because I don't play those jobs.

A lot of the crafter gear would look great on casters. The heavensward culinarian set is practically a white mage outfit, the 90 gatherer set is an awesome looking casual wear. What are anyone's thoughts on the crafter/gatherer exclusive gear? There aren't enough glamour plates for them all and since crafters share gear and gatherers share gear, I never see these sets. I could see them being unlocked as rewards for leveling that class or maybe completing some other objective to unlock them
But no, we can't glamour it for general use because reasons.

Agreed.
I hate that the majority of caster chest pieces are robes. I also hate how a lot of the melee items for SAM/MNK are skirts or some version thereof.
I'm also sore that a lot of the crafting glamour never gets used because it's locked to one crafting job so very few people ever use it. I don't have the armory space nor the money to pentameld a new set of craft gear for every crafting job for the sake of glamour. In fact, why restrict them to crafting jobs at all? I'm still in love with the gemfiend set and would love to use it on a combat job.
With sets being so minimally different in visuals across jobs in the newer content, I don't see the point of restricting them based on jobs anymore. I honestly can't tell at a glance the difference between any of the asphodelos chest pieces and which jobs they belong to.
I feel that if a hrothgar tank can do battle in his underwear, I should be able to fight in crafting gear.
The Alchemist coat is perfect for the "doctor" healer I was trying to pull off, I'd love to have that model for healer glamour.
Oh, for sure a lot of the crafter/gratherer gear would look amazing on combat jobs. I personally would love to use the Swallowskin set on my MCH

I still think the issue could be that they can't selectively omit certain things like job armour, and any release of glamour restrictions would be universal.
All or nothing, and there are lines they don't want to cross so they opt for nothing.
Honestly, I probably can. But glamour is "my thing" and my brain has particular skill in recalling useless facts and visuals.
If we could do that, I'd immediately fantasia and start working on duplicating this: https://finalfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/Sadu_Dotharl Unfortunately, her gear isn't available for NIN.

The easiest solution may very well be to unlock glamour restrictions for all armor and just exclude weapons from the equation, and honestly, I really don't care if someone else wants to wear WHM robes as a WAR. It's not my character. What someone else wants to name their character or glam there character is none of my business, and I think it's kind of selfish for someone to say they don't want someone else to have the ability to do something. If you don't like the idea of a character running around in another job's armor, then don't wear that armor. I don't like the idea of fighting in a frog suit, but it doesn't mean it's okay for me to tell other people not to. I understand it to a point from a thematic standpoint, but I would hate if that were the one thing standing between us and accessing all the rest of the gear in the game.I still think the issue could be that they can't selectively omit certain things like job armour, and any release of glamour restrictions would be universal.

That said, there is definitely a way to separate artifact gear. It's just about creating a new switch on gear of whether or not it can be universally glamoured, just like whether or not something can be traded on the MB, or if it can be put in the dresser, or if it can be dyed. There is some kind of switch on gear that lets you walk through that threshold into whatever lies beyond it, and it would be very easy to accomplish based on what we've seen already. The actual work would come into allowing gear to bypass role restrictions when used in glamour plates.
I won't pretend to be a backseat developer, but I'm fairly certain that it's not a matter of whether they can or not and more of "do we want to let them do this"The easiest solution may very well be to unlock glamour restrictions for all armor and just exclude weapons from the equation, and honestly, I really don't care if someone else wants to wear WHM robes as a WAR. If we can get one of these threads anywhere near as active as the male Viera one, then that would probably convince them to reevaluate whether it's worth putting work into or not (and hopefully in favour)
