But most of the supporters of this idea also vouch for Job sets to remain restricted, so you wouldn't really see a Warrior in a White Mage iconic robe.

However, you'd be able to see them in generic Healing armor class robes, if that's what you meant, but that is something you already can achieve with ARR items branded "All Classes". Just pick one of those fancier robes and dye in white. The job armor class silhouette consistency already flew through the window a long time ago, and that's not just with the restrictions, but also with the artistic briefing on some sets. You'd think that is weird for Monk and Samurai to wear healer robes, but that's exactly what happened in the Eden tier 2 set when they got a lookalike.
