He's probably the most toxic poster on this forum with a lot of toxic people. I'm pretty sure at this point he wants the game to fail and is instigating things. I just put him on ignore like a few others of the really bad ones. It makes things simpler.
I think its better to cater to the 'normal' player, and to be honest I think the normal player doesnt mind a challenge, but doesnt mind if there isnt one as long as its fun to run through.I honestly think it's the obvious. All these changes feel like they are making this game so 'accessible' (I hate this word) that is appeals to a very large group of people. We saw this with every MMO before. They do expect to be online for 10 more years, and how old players feel is irrelevant. They only care about new players who will buy expansions and items off the mogstation. This isn't to talk smack this is just what the business is.
The higher end players say they want a challenge, but when faced with people who dont catch on as quickly as they do they become frustrated. This makes the experience bad for both them and the newer players. So since these players arent going to be happy in either case, they go for the path that will cause the least conflict.
Bottom line is if you have a MMORPG as popular as FFXIV you don't phase it out to a new MMO, because its an extremely low chance your new one is as popular.
I have feelings, I don't think I am the most toxic.
How ever I am sure you feel the same about the information regarding balances changes. As Yoshi P said they would later explain why the kaiten changes were made and if I am not mistaken I believe he said he wanted to discuss the future of job design as well? Maybe he is waiting to get more feed back as it was mentioned as well the concept of more or less job identity vs accessibility. I believe he also mentioned a problem with crit synergy as well and there may be changes in the future regarding this. So, as it is right now I personally want to see what he has to say. I would go as far to say that they may not even know what direction they want to take job design in at this point. Granted it has been two weeks and they have there hands full, with ultimate release, and housing problems. I think this conversation would have been nice to have had last expansion though when a lot of boring designs first showed up that way we don't have to suffer the big finale of the story arc with what we have now.
But no I don't want to see the game fail, I just like to stir a pot a little bit that's all.
I wish the developers would explain in detail their thoughts/ideals for class balance during the live letter. They will spend an hour talking about transmog but 30sec on class balance and they purposely leave out information until the day patch is released. I would love an interview or segment on next live letter, will it happen? Doubtful =(
R.I.P samurai main 2022 - REAPER TIME!
I want the reasoning on why it took 7 years to address living dead strain on healers and the tank. The reasoning why it took 5 years to address the blood weapon concerns. Why it is still taking so long to address DRK in dungeons for its self sustain to help healers. Why with the change in aggro was shirk cooldown not reduced. Why MCH have been getting small bandaid fixes over and over instead of a real solution.
I want them to really sit down and talk about the current state of healing in ffxiv because it is not ok. I want them to address WAR issue with the direct critical hit that is disturbing job synergy.
We simply need a letter from the producer live that goes over job balance and job balance alone. Not just a 5 minute segment where they talk 1 line statements over half the jobs.
I don't honestly see to many people get that frustrated in groups. The in game community isn't that bad. Just the forums community is bad at times. People label things in the PF very clearly, between things such as learning, clear, weekly clear, farm. If you join a learning party and you are not learning as quick as others that is fine. They can move on to a clear, and you can continue to learn. If you are joining a clear party, expect to fail, you are attempting a clear that many in the group have not gotten.I think its better to cater to the 'normal' player, and to be honest I think the normal player doesnt mind a challenge, but doesnt mind if there isnt one as long as its fun to run through.

It's a expectation game in reality, if you don't know what you are doing and you join a farm party instead of a learning party, yes expect people to be angry cause you are not respecting there time. If you want a farm group, and you join a learning party, expect to be wasting your time teaching people to clear before you can farm it.
I honestly am not sure what the game is trying to cater to specially with job design. If you look at the tank kit currently, it may be that all this self healing and mitigation which caters the job more towards Ultimates, but this causes issues in lower content to be much easier where healers aren't really needed for your daily roulette. Then you have Yoshi P saying go try ultimates for healers, which leads me to believe the kit is also more designed for ultimates. And I think this is where complaints really stem from, is the design feels like it's designed for function at peak in ultimates, but content below that makes some roles and jobs feel less interesting. So maybe there is some sort of balance between they are missing. I don't know I feel like I am rambling nonsense to a certain extent.
I have honestly complained among friends about the amount of time spent on transmog over other content in Live Letters since ARR.I wish the developers would explain in detail their thoughts/ideals for class balance during the live letter. I can agree, I am hoping when ever Yoshi does explain the samurai changes, he does go time into this and explain the general direction. I also wish they could consider possibly waiting until a new expansion before cutting skills with out replacements, or slowly implementing changes through an expansion to lead into the next. It makes player feel like they are beta testers.I want the reasoning on why it took 7 years to address living dead strain on healers and the tank. This. All of this. Just Living Dead alone shows they really don't read feedback like they say they do.I want the reasoning on why it took 7 years to address living dead strain on healers and the tank. And well. I'd rather not get into Healer complaints. There's like 5 threads if anyone really wants to look.
sends a very pointed look the dev's way
I'm tired of being told to wait for post-patches and expansions for fixes and increased healing requirements that are never coming. Healers are not fun in all forms of content like all jobs should be, they're replaced by tanks and dps due to low healing requirements and their dps kit is small for 0 reason, when in the past we had more options and handled things just fine. I refuse to play healer in roulette come DT. I refuse to heal EXs, I refuse to go into Savage, and I am boycotting Ultimate.

The point isn't that they should listen to people who played for longer. The point is more of us should voice our opinions on what we think is wrong with the game so that if they STILL don't listen, it's easier for people to quit giving them money.
That way they have consequences to ignoring us.
Also, FFXIV was my first final fantasy. I loved it because back then you could play with people around the whole world on the same servers.
The community was much nicer overall.
I'd be surprised if they have 2 good expansions left and then bare bones after that.
The game engine is in shambles, it can barely support much more QoL adjustments. They had to remove an entire gear slot to accommodate new gear slots for new jobs. They can't really do that again unless they get rid of a ring slot.
Yoshi has said the game can only handle so much personal data and it looks like we're quickly approaching the cap if we're not there already.
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
