People made fun of others in the exact same way leading up to WoW eventually beginning to crumble. There is a tipping point that comes eventually; We're not there yet, but discontent among the player-base has become much more visible over the last few months.

I think the biggest issue is the absolute tone deafness of Yoshi-P telling a section of the player base to go play Ultimate if they're unsatisfied. The amount of arrogance was ridiculous. Especially from a company who was supposed to have learned a lesson on that.

No I will be honest I think Yoshi P knows this game does not have 10 more years left. Likely SE is cutting the budget even more now that the story is finished.

They're probably laying the groundwork to put this game on life-support.

I wouldn't at all be surprised if there was a new MMO project in its very early stages at SE, which Yoshida will be working on in earnest after FF16 is completed.

Eh, for all we actually know. This game was successful because that devs from FFXI helped rework it from 1.0 to 2.0. Yoshi P may have had very little to do with it. He definitely seems like nothing more than a PR rep at this point.

Because adding a whole new region, plus expanding servers in other regions, is the most obvious sign of thinking your game doesn't have 10 years left

They did that because the JP players wanted OCE players off there servers. They haven't expanded anything yet, other than JP servers and due to the player count likely won't bother to do so now.

You can look it up both complaints from the JP community about it and complaints about the OCE community about it. These servers were coming regardless of an influx of players or not. You can also look up the announcement where they have dates on when other servers would be updated. The only thing updated was JP everything else was scheduled after July 2022.

I honestly think it's the obvious. All these changes feel like they are making this game so 'accessible' (I hate this word) that is appeals to a very large group of people. We saw this with every MMO before. They do expect to be online for 10 more years, and how old players feel is irrelevant. They only care about new players who will buy expansions and items off the mogstation. This isn't to talk smack this is just what the business is.
