That level 42 dungeon is a new players umm.. sixth dungeon. If you skip optional dungeons the majority of new player time is spent learning nothing. Go to npc > talk > kill one or two mobs > repeating. Most job quests absolutely fricken suck at teaching anything either. The first twenty levels of Marauder quests involve pressing one on rocks or watching other npcs tank for you. Healer quests are big stinky doo doo especially Conjurer.

Hall of the Novice is optional content and I have lost count of number of times we have had to direct someone too it. Tis also outdated as all heck in many ways, it still tells you to switch from aoe to single target as tank. Needs to be updated and expanded to include hall of intermediate and hall of expert.

Stone Vigil was first dungeon where even moderate sized pulls could be lethal especially without proper mitigation - low damage - improper healing. It is the first dungeon Dragoon has access to aoe in. The first dungeon with significant number of non telegraphed attacks. It introduces players to Burns/Frostbite both very hard hitting dots that should be cleansed (Cutters is optional). It demonstrated non telegraphed persistent baited aoes which appear allllllll over in FF14 land. Poor placement could wall other team members resulting in additional damage and more healing required.

So yes, I would view the sixth dungeon as a pseudo tutorial for various mechanics. English is not the main language so perhaps tutorial was wrong word but in my mind it is tutorial dungeon. That doth not mean it must be sleep inducing though.

Yeah, that is a unnecessary nerf.

Wasn't even a difficult mechanic, just don't stand in the "fire".

Yeah I noticed this the other day as well as I was leveling PLD.

Were those mechanics really complained about at all?

I still appreciate that Toto-Rak Glow-Up though. That Dungeon was the bane of Leveling Roulette.

I sometimes wonder if these changes are for new player's sake or for the people that want to get through their roulette as fast as possible

I cant imagine this change being a trust change as the mechanic really isnt that different

They really do need to increase damage on all new boss abilities across the board. I imagine by next patch the strat for Copperbell will be to ignore mechanics and burn boss because standing in the bad isnt all that bad

It could well be a trust change. Getting NPCs to not only dodge current AoEs but also lingering ground effects? I can imagine some crazy pathing glitching could occur with how you (and the NPCs) could potentially mess up the placement and leave no and few safe zones.

You have to wonder what SE thinks about the intelligence/aptitude of their own player-base when they make changes like this.

Then again, this is the fandom that has people willing to shell out thousands of dollars for a guitar they cannot play, or 11000 for a statue.

Not even, considering the size of the boss.
You could go into his hitbox with relative ease.

Not that there's many positional attacks anymore...

DRG has 3 still. Sam 2, RPR 2, mnk 2. Mnk lost the most, but also had the most annoying ones due to its gcd being so low.

Yep, almost nothing compared to how it used to be.
Overall the nerf to this particular boss fight was pretty unrequired imo.
