Carbuncle should not be a permanent summon, instead it should be a support summon that combines Searing Light and Radiant Aegis into a new ability called Ruby Light like in every other FF game, and affect the whole party.

I’ll take this if it means Carbuncle does SOMETHING. I sit there crying now that all Carby does is sit there and wait for me to summon something. I like SMN, but I love Carbuncle. So much every summon prior to this was carbuncle. And even now at 1-89 is carbuncle too. I have spent money for every Carbuncle item in and out of game, even a few harder to obtain ones like the soft glow lamp that you could only get from a Japanese crane game.
Sorry I got distracted by Carbuncle.
I'm from 1 MS in the future.

Carbuncle is a full on summon just like Ifrit and Shiva. It should be treated as such.

A) Different universes, different rules.
In FF14's universe, Carbuncles are aetheric constructs created by Arcanists through the use of arcane geometries (more specifically, gemstone-based ones).
They're not Primals.
At best, they serve as the "focus" for various ACN/SMN skills.
B) There are various other summons from past games that didn't become Primals in FF14 (thus, won't have an Egi/Trance/etc. made out of).
Such as Kujata, Siren, Diabolos, Mist Dragon, Eden, etc.
So yeah...
Forever waiting on *new* Egis/summons (e.g. Ramuh-Egi).
I have to say, I've been leveling an alt, to see the ARR changes (which I like, btw) - and though I haven't noticed it on my 90 summoner , it's VERY weird to have the carbuncle just stand there & stare at me. Now I'm seeing it all the time on both of them. "Just standing there, MENACINGLY!" I don't know what it should be doing, but something would be better than this!
If we were to see an expansion of the glamour system, I would honestly not care at all if they created some random justification for allowing us to have demi-primals take on the shape on non-primal entities specifically to allow the use of glamours for past Final Fantasy characters. So many jobs already have the lore of their actions mangled from rebalancing. I feel like giving people the option is far more valuable than choosing this example of lore to stay traditional with. The real work would come into adjusting the particle effects to match your glamoured pet since these are all entities that have forms and animations in the game. No clue what they'll do with the egi glamour system moving forward, but it would doubtfully be that crazy. Two things.

To be honest though, I'd love to see the ability to glamour the effects and actions of jobs. Have the option to glamour BLM so that Ice is your offensive element and Fire is your MP regeneration element. Let WHM glamour their spells to use Earth, Wind, and Water again. Even if that was added to the cash shop, I'd buy an action glamour set if I really liked one.
Bad lore is a poor excuse for denying Summoners the job they've enjoyed in FF games for decades. Two things.

Dragoons get to look cool and jump, Paladins get to tank and use white magic, Black Mages get classic black magic etc etc. Summoners however are stuck with a "carbuncle" who stands around doing nothing, and used to be stuck with stupid looking "Egis" until they thankfully added ifrit/titan/garuda at level 90.
You don't have to reinvent the wheel. Final Fantasy summoners are already cool. Just give us that.
Agreed. I'd sooner rip up the lore than be stuck with what we have now. As far as I'm concerned my headcanon that I can call forth the subdued versions of the primals/whatever I want via creation magic > the actual state of in-game summoner lore.

"Bad lore".
For something that's been established (and most importantly, kept consistent) for nearly 10 years, without much fuzz from the playerbase.
Yeah...I'm gonna go with a huge no on that one.
Also (and for the record), each game post-FF3 tackles summoning differently.
With FF10~FF13 being the biggest outliers on how a "traditional" summoner works.
You forgot the Trances (Lv.60) and the Demi-Summons (Lv.70), as well as its own LB3 (Teraflare).Dragoons get to look cool and jump, Paladins get to tank and use white magic, Black Mages get classic black magic etc etc. Summoners however are stuck with a "carbuncle" who stands around doing nothing, and used to be stuck with stupid looking "Egis" until they thankfully added ifrit/titan/garuda at level 90.
Just saying.
EW's rework is as close as you'll get to a """traditional""" (old school) FF summoner, all while being as faithful to this universe's lore as possible.
Besides, story/lore consistency has been a key component since the game's inception (which also applies to its classes/jobs).
Changing it because you don't like it would be a slippery slope.

Fun > lore. Always. I've already had this discussion a thousand times when it came to male Viera and female Hrothgar. Summoners walking around with a blue ice wolf isn't going to be detrimental to anyone.
