As for the OP, as a healer player who moved to SMN in 5.0 and then SAM in 6.0, only to have every job I swapped to gutted and made devoid of why I originally liked it. I can't agree more with this post. Devs need to get their shit together and stop gutting everything.

Couldn't agree more. Soon all we'll have is the same amount of buttons that we currently have in pvp...

    +1

    Agree on all points.

Simplifying and homogenizing classes has always been a sign of a MMO going in the wrong direction. Please SE, look at the other examples like WoW and learn from them! Don't repeat the same mistakes. Keep the game a unique and engaging experience...

Recent class changes have been entirely counter-productive in providing a fun game to play.

The direction their heading in is making it friendly only for the casuals starting with SMN, now SAM, with the rumors of DRG and AST being next in line.
The only message I have is if you can't play the job and complain the job is too difficult go switch to another job and don't let your inability to learn a job affect others.
Why do you think this game has a variety of jobs its obviously to cater to different players.
If this were to continue just stop making Savage and Ultimate contents because at this pace I won't be playing this game by 7.0
Revert SAM back because it was doing perfectly fine.
Make NIN's raiton combo for flexible, also the MUG made the job even more rigid.
    DO NOT CHANGE DRG!!!
    DONT F UP AST CHANGE!!!
    DONT F UP OTHER JOBS!!!
Im pissed because I had to change jobs from SAM prior to DSR with minimal time I dont even have my BiS F u Dev team

Correction: SAM used to be a job with excellent build up mechanics. As of 6.1, SAM is not one of these classes. There is virtually no build up now. Effectively, the SE SAM change was in the direct opposite direction of what Dzian was speaking to. SE robbed the class of its identity and enjoyment by making our entire rotation similar in damage, no more build up, and its precisely why 99% of the SAM population is really disappointed with 6.1.

The impact of game play in the class went from really satisfying, to now the feeling equivalent to of attacking with foam swords.

I agree 100%. I started playing in 3.3, back when (compared to now at least) you had to have a physics degree to play any job. The tutorials sucked ass back then too. I sucked. I was a warrior main and I didn't know what a cooldown was. I didn't know what enmity was. I didn't know you could pull multiple packs in a dungeon. I didn't know what item level was. I'm currently a purple parsing savage raider. If players want to improve, they'll improve. Dumbing down the game as much as they have is only making people like me more likely to unsub. I've literally never let my sub lapse or unsubbed. Depending on what happens in 6.2 I may unsub and only resub for story.

As a former WHM main, we healers have been asking for more stuff to do for so long. With the damage output being so low, 80-90% of the time, we are only pressing one button. And that's our DPS spell. We healer mains like to heal, but during downtime when no healing is required, all we are asking is for more stuff to do besides pressing one button.

Heck, I don't mind if they remove a few healing spells from the healer kits. We're kinda bloated with them anyway so why not?

    • Hyperbolic venting. Check.
    • "I've been playing since 1.0, but only decided to start a forum account in the last 4 months". Check.
    • or, perhaps "I'm a new player and know everything about the long history of this game".
    • Tutorials that no other game has are absolutely necessary in this one, even though it's a dumbed down, braindead game to play. Check

I'm a "veteran player". I'm not upset with the changes. I was perfectly happy with Bow Mage, probably because I didn't generally run around the dungeon like I was a blindfolded chicken. My SAM alt doesn't have any issues nor do I particularly miss Kaiten. My DRG alt is having fun with the greatly shortened jump animations. I enjoy the feel of Summoner as much post-change as before.

So, not every "Veteran Player" is upset.

There are plenty of new players, yeah. The majority of paying subscribers, on the other hand, absolutely know what they're getting into at this point. The non-subscribers have plenty of time to discover that they don't like job X anymore, and wouldn't be playing if they had to pay anyway.

Tutorials: Name two other MMORPGs with a tutorial system that teach 'how to play a job'. Make it starting level tutorials, and, later, at each level in which the job changes dramatically because of new synergies assigned to job actions. Actually, name one that fits that particular demand well. I'll wait.

And that is perfectly fine. Do you own a house that I can camp when you unsub for three months?
