Um. It doesn't need to be old to see that some jobs become excessively rare or just vanish in the high ranks.
This isn't a game where you can queue as a premade or pick your classes on the fly, so it's not a case of "people are just blindly following a meta." A lot of jobs just can't do the work. It's very, very obvious balance is far off and there's a lot of balancing work to be done. Which, given that it's a complete rework, is fine. But people calling for nerfs to some of those jobs has good reasons behind it. Just I think the approach should be different.

Just to echo this, bard is such a weak class now, it's completely unviable. I've been lucky to make it to gold tier as a bard (and one that plays on console, which means I suffer the rp walking bug; so I'm fighting uphill both ways). However, once I got into gold tier, the number of bards I see on the enemy team dropped to like maybe 1 every 10-15 matches, whereas before it was more like 1 every 2-3 matches. I can only imagine the class vanishes from sight at the higher tiers cause it's just so lacking: lowest damage, lowest health of the physical ranged classes, little to no mitigation outside the standard that everyone has, low mobility compared to any of the melee classes (seriously, melee can jump so far, there's no advantage to being ranged), absolutely hand-cramping to attempt to actually do any damage cause you have to pull off 5-6 skills to burst a target, only to watch their health-bar not move cause each shot was so weak. Not to mention the fact that you get focused straight off the field by every SAM, NIN, DRG, RDM, SMN, MCH, WAR, PLD, DRK, WHM, SCH, SGE, AST, RPR, and MNK in existence. The only two classes that don't focus blast the bard to pieces is DNC and GNB, simply cause they have their own issues.Um. All bard is is a 5% damage totem that gets blasted off the field in 10 seconds or less of showing his/her face in the open.
