What people expect from this housing blunder.

I think its fair to say this blunder is going to have severe consequences for the dev team.

Not only do they have to find and address the issue, but also come to a decision on the plot allocations that were already won.

Were the plots that won, a result of the bug?
Who knows, Nobody is going to believe they lost fairly.

To those who were the sole bidders on a plot, are you going to be allocated the plot or forced to sit through another stressful housing lottery?

People that were sole bidders SHOULD be allocated the plot they were bidding on, and not forced to be put through the system again.

It was already dodgy that so many plots had only one entry or less. Even the smalls. The housing demand of the playerbase is far too high for that to make any kind of logical sense. To those who feel they won, or did win though, no, no. There is no question. No scrutiny. No other conclusion other than they should currently be a house owner.

As for the dev team, what greater consequence is there than a playerbase who feels they are incompetent? To have so many of their fans upset and frustrated, and feeling cheated? I know 6.1 has been nothing short of a rocky a transition, but it should be at least somewhat apparent that they are trying to accommodate the large and ever-increasing demands of their playerbase.

I can only speak for myself in this regard, but had I won a plot yesterday for my new FC; due to all this madness and many players were indeed cheated out of a home, I wouldn't even feel good, or right about it. I would feel like I won it unfairly, and that would never sit right with me.

nah that's just people spreading themselves out and deciding not to bid against each other. In Materia every single plot was available, (and the FC wards had more plots than eligible FCs) so it made more sense to just find one without a bidder.

I had someone on Mateus walking around not wanting to bid on anything that had people on the placard already. Even saw her walk up to a group standing at a house and asking "Is it alright if I place a bid here?"

I don't know if she ever bid but I did see her around the apartments later. Just hours before lottery ended, saw a FC wander around for like 30 minutes before coming to the plot my wife and I bid on and placing three bids in as we were the only large that had such a small number on it remaining.

Did see plenty of smalls and a medium here and there not bid on at all, but tons of bids on the other larges (the hot springs adjacent one is a big hot spot), but the personal wards on my server seem almost completely full in comparison.

I lost the plot I was alone on the whole week because somebody came 5 hours before the end and put a ticket on the same M as me. Meanwhile, just beside, lied an untouched M plot.

Yeah OCE has been pretty good, there were a few people bullying FC members for wanting to bid on plots they were standing guard over (One we actually PAID an fc member to bid on, and they won it from the bullys).
Other than that, everyone spread out pretty nicely for larges ect ect.

I was the only one bidding for the house, so my expectation was to get the house after they sort the coding problem out.

Unfortunately my guess would be any players who won will keep the spoils and those of us that didnt will just get to bix on th he leftover plots. Its a shame because i did lose my plot to another player but i cant help if the bug played a part. Even if someone says oh that wouldnt affect it peopld will still wonder...

As far as I can see, most OCE people were nice during the lottery ^^ As everywhere, you alwas find blacksheeps unfortunately (that paid thing is crazy), and a saw the thread with many plots taken by same FCs too

If only my CL wasn’t max level and my airships and submarines settled, I should have move to OCE honestly. (All my friends left the game a couple of years ago, even my husband so it’s only me now, so attachment is not a problem anymore.)

The ping from France worries me a little but since I was able to play casual content on EU servers from Japan in 2016, it’s doable in my opinion. With no friends left, I don’t do EX or savages anymore.

I hope everyone who lose to 0 will get their plot !

I think the most likely solution is going to be:
- anyone that won a plot, keeps the plot, regardless of the RNG possibly being faulty (which is pure speculation by some)
- all other plots are back up in the next lottery session

While I personally think that non-competitive bids should be allocated those plots, I don't think they will do that. Consider the following, there were 100,000 plots in this lottery across all servers. They would have to get eyeballs on exactly which plots were effected by this bug and whether they were non-competitive bids. Then, they'd have to figure out which player(s) took their refunds and which didn't. And somehow... get just those players to submit their gil through some method that they'd have to design, test, integrate, test and test again. All the while, keeping all lottery frozen until this is sorted out. Mind you, that's just the high high level on this. I don't write software for SE. I think they are very talented to do what they did this far (aside from this bug).

The "safe" path is to award no plots to those with the "0 winner" bug. Just let everyone get the refund they deserve and do it again. Not ideal for those should-be winners. I'll be surprised if they award those plots in some other manner.

I also think a complete redo of this lottery is off the table. If the making the "0 winner" ticket holders whole by giving them a plot is too difficult to pull off, certainly redoing the entire lottery and making millions of players whole across all servers is a huge undertaking.

Looks like they can even reroll with those who refunded their money. Going to interesting to see how they handle it.
