What is going on with Square Enix and the 14 team?

Many of us knew this was coming bc of the lack of content with everything else besides story, that the lack of depth would continue- we were either told by other players "you have a good story, why are you complaining?" or by Yoshi-P to "go play something else" (abit out of context)

See why those of us being the squeaky cog were so persistent about the lack of depth in the content we were getting?

One of the issues too, being most players were content bc they don't believe in constructive criticizing - even JP players have said they get annoyed at their own playerbase for being too content bc they're too "polite" to say they don't like something or want to see changes. Take the Hrothgar issues, the jp players joked about the ears but they didn't actively say they aren't okay with it- some even turned to the NA forums since although NA forums can be pretty rude & obnoxious, there are those of us who are direct & get the point across.

When Viera & Hroth were 1st released many of us hoped they would continue to get cosmetic support as we were told they'd retain their uniqueness & be given more unique hairstyles (paraphrasing here)
But that hasn't happened. Viera still look mostly half-completed copy-paste E-girls with bunny ears on them. Not the Amazonian like humanoid Leporidae that appeared in FFXII or in other previous concept art. (atleast that's how I've viewed them excluding how they appear in XIV)

Hrothgar certainly have gotten the biggest middle finger- The devs have wasted our money on the recourses spent to trying to fix this race.
Do not support other SE projects until we start seeing features we have asked for- and the devs correcting their mistakes.

I do appreciate the content we do get, but I don't appreciate the blinders the devs apparently wear when it comes to listening to their fanbase- All I'm asking is for more transparency. More honest communication. Like, tell us when something is taking longer bc of issues, tell us when we are getting instanced housing, tell us the best way to get our point across.

Protest by cancelling your subscriptions. Or talk about cancelling subs-
either way, it might help get the point across.

What is this thread??? Complain without substance or detail at all? I can understand if you said i hate the game because bla bla bla, but simply state the game is bad, the story is bad, everything is bad, of course it is bad for you so just play other game, if you think the game is bad then make a point of what to do about it so we can start discussing, well i think nothing bad/questionable happened right now except the housing matter? Well i didnt participate in that so i hope the dev fix that, dont rollback, i spent all my time crafting this 2 days........

as someone who has a decent grasp of japanese, people have this misconception that they're more polite. i assure you, they're not. google translate and other translators typically strip emotion from text and there's a lot of context and cultural stuff that just ends up getting left behind in translations done even by people.
it doesn't help that the japanese language itself is based around the idea of apologizing for inconveniencing people so people get this strange idea that this means they're always actually saying sorry when in actuality it's pretty difficult to write more than a sentence in japanese without something that resembles an apology to non-native speakers.

example: saying just "thank you" without apologizing for an inconvenience is so difficult in japanese that many just say サンキュー (sankyuu), aka 'thank you' in english.

I get it, that people want this, and people want that or waiting for this option, this glamour and everything else including listening to fan base. If the Devs did everything that everything that you want, then more people like yourself will try to push for more and more. You see the picture here.

or let me ask everybody a question here "If they do all of the changes that everybody wants from hair style to combat but in return, you will have to pay a higher subscription cost, would you do it?" Most of us would say Yes, but we will have those in the forums will be saying that they are paying too much.

FFXIV has alot of flaws for a game that is over 10 years old (i been here for almost eight years of them and believe me, all of the stuff is saying here is child's play to what the fanbase want back in those days), but they are at least trying their best to accolated everybody need and want. Besides you cannot everyone happy and if you think that this game is not for you, there is so many other games right now from Lost Ark to No Man's Sky (That my jam) and others. You dont have to be tied down by this game. If you dont like the direction, say it by your wallets not your words on a forum.

I cancelled my subscription too. At this point, I feel like taking a break is well overdue.
I've always preached how SE have extorted money from Viera and Hrothgar's limitations, but from the outside looking in it seems barely any of that money is invested back into the limited races.
We want them improved, and we want it done within a reasonable time.

Some are, but they're being given the opportunity through our feedback to course-correct. Eventually for some it will turn into a case of unsubbing, and their little mini-questionnaire at the end of the unsub process won't even be able to tell them why. But their forum might be able to.

What really stood out to me just how completely tone-deaf the dev team, and even Yoshida, have become is the latter's response to Healer complaints. Granted, it's not exactly a new trend for them to ignore the myriad of criticism, but for Yoshida to dismissively say, "Go try Ultimate" just screams, "I don't actually know why you're upset. So I'll just assume..."

It's been amusing in a way to see how completely dumbfounded they seem by the vitriolic response towards Samurai and Ninja changes. You can tell they never anticipated this much disdain.
