Why queue healer when you can queue tank, you can solo the ex yourself but having other people just makes it go faster

Because Duty Finder still require a healer to start the duty if you want the roulette rewards. Premade can have 1 tank + 3 DPS, but if you're using the Duty finder, there must be 1 healer required or the Duty cannot begin.

Yep.... In Endwalker, Healers are only there because the Duty Finders says you have to be. Not because you're needed.

Is this thread having over 135 pages of comments not enough to justify the director at least addressing the criticism via a written blog post or something? The Hrothgar hair thread got addressed, so surely this could also receive a response?

Yoshi's still mad about Black and White mage parties steamrolling ARR dungeons. It's why he added trash pack gating in all future dungeons and diminishing returns to mage AOEs (but not physical). He only relented on the mage diminishing returns for the ones that got the everloving shit nerfed out of their potencies.

Back in the day, all the way back to when Wanderer's Palace and Amdapor Keep were the end-game tome grinds, what speed runners would do is grab all the trash and run to the boss rooms, start the boss fight, and hold the enemies at the boss room's entrance until it closed, resetting all the trash mob's aggro and making them run back to their original spots. This was back when tanks and healers stance-danced, making it really hard for newer tanks and healers. What made it worse was that there were people who expected speed-run strats in pugs.

Healers have been making long threads about the role’s issues since SB. We’re still waiting on satisfactory official responses to our criticisms. One that isn’t “Just try Ultimate if you want engagement; we can’t make other content hard for the babies”. In the grand scheme of things, this is just one of many threads. The thread about WHM Lilies during Stormblood was longer, and if I remember correctly, actually got locked by the moderation team.

EDIT: My bad, it appears it wasn’t locked—but it’s over 300 pages long if you have 10 posts per page. It must have been another thread I was thinking about.

I will say, as much as I liked healing back then, I'm not expecting some kind of return to esoteric playstyle. Just... something actually challenging or engaging about healing would be delightful. I used to main healer but still DPSed plenty and it is like night and day as far as whether my brain is working or not. Wish it mattered to people instead of being met with snide remarks and accusations of powergaming or whatever. But it's clear this has been a problem for years and the response only gets more dismissive so... oh well.

I wish but if the healer forums are anything to go by we at best will get a "its working as intended" or "just go play ultimate" for every 1-2 years of continuous complaints

To be honest I think we have a better chance with this topic than anything on the healer subforum.
The male viera thread here made way more impact than anything posted on the lore or races subforum.

So I assume IF we were to get anything from them, this topic should be the reason...

Well, with this patch being a literal dumpsterfire, we'll likely have to take a backseat. We'll probably even see AST's adjustments, promised for 6.2, be pushed back to the next expansion (but they'll still find time for DRG, I'm sure).
It's sad that we had to lose Kaiten, FC Houses, and Ears (may they all rest in peace) for job fantasy in PVP only and WHM getting more flowers. I guess the only consolation is that the rest of the game is finally getting caught on the same fire that we've been dealing with in the Healer's little corner of the world for the past 6 years.

I'm just waiting for 6.2. I don't think I would outright quit if AST loses something else, but this elezen you see as my portrait will be retired to RP only and barely see the light of day again.

From there... well I'll see what if anything is worth subbing this game for.
