New hrothgar hairstyles are really bad.

As there have been a lot of feedback surrounding Hrothgar and their hairstyles, we wanted to share a recent update from Yoshida during the recent patch notes reading. On the stream he discussed the specifications of Hrothgar and the difficulties regarding adding hairstyles for them.

I think it's fair to say most of us are willing to wait a year or two to get some really good quality hair styles. Sure, we will probably never get all of them, but we would love to have a number of them which many users have collectively agreed are popular, such as "Wind Caller".

Maybe have a poll to gauge interest at some fan event, maybe open a survey on the site somewhere. Something that would unambiguously collect that information, then focus on the top 5 or so hairstyles that players want most for Hrothgar, and take all the time it takes to keep the face, ears, and rest of the model's qualities intact.

It hurts to say that we aren't happy with the current options because we know that a lot of work went into it, but it's because we know you value our feedback that we say it at all at a place like this.

I think it's fair to say most Hrothgar players are fine with only having a few hairstyles to pick from, so long as those hairstyles are well made, and while it will take time, there are ways to go about discovering which hair styles are most popular, and then putting them on the roadmap. This is probably the best compromise to be made. This way you don't have to guess and pray that the hair styles you picked are the ones your players want, and you can take all the time you need to perfect these 5 or so hair styles that will probably satisfy the largest number of players.

To be honest... No, just no. If they just convert hair styles, and as lazy as the ones from 6.1, 4 months are more than just enough. Even 2 weeks totally suffice in such cases, but we have the given patch cycles.

With styles from scratch, I would agree more with you.
But we saw, that they weren't able to use 2-3+ years properly, so it will be 6 more lazy copy-pasta in a distant future. So better keep hopes for true racials deep frosted, so they don't rot away.

Don't get me wrong. I'm overall pretty satisfied with the patch, which what I played so far. The adventurer plates are a great time waster, the dungeon reworks are great, etc. So not much to complain from those departments.
Also I see the issues of repairing a system that got shaped around a questionable concept.

But the department responsible for the hairs went full fail, considering how much time they already had, and what was possible to create anew or overhaul.

Not me. We waited patiently for 3 years to get chewed up scraps. Most of us already had insanely low expectations, but this was just straight up insulting. Hrothgar hairstyles should be the #1 priority on their list right now. Another set of parasol /cposes can wait.

Exactly 2 and a half years, for viera to get some copy pasted hairstyles first, then when your guys' patch finally comes out.. this. They just can get by a little easier on viera, since the hairs fit better, aside from their large foreheads. It's ridiculous. You all have waited long enough. I think enough is enough.

If Hrothgar can wear it, it probably looks just as ridiculous as every other helmet that completely replaces the head on them. They always look laughably small on a large body. Like, they can never put in the effort to scale the head beyond that of a hyur when it comes to Hrothgar and helmets.

I wish they would just do viera/hrothgar custom headgear in place of this sort of headgear, if their "custom" features are such an issue. Like, for example, having a crown instead of the full helmet. I'd prefer a crown on my au ra, if I wanted that set, for that matter. Of course, that would require them putting in more work, and modelling an alternative.
