Gunbreaker is fantastic right now. It's never been more fun to play. It's so busy with booms and when you sync down it's less fun because there are less explosions to press!
In other news, there is no technical debt from 1.0.

Moving the boss and weaving defensives during the cartridge combo is very frustrating in high level play, not to mention the problem with No Mercy windows requiring 3 cartridges and drifting slowly drifts from optimal buff alignment.
While I too enjoy the explosions from Hypervelocity and Double Down, Gunbreaker does have its problems. Maybe they don't apply to you, but they exist.
