Something I want to stress...

There's a lot of negativity and criticism going around given the recent announcement, and I'm no less guilty of contributing to that negative energy. They say the devs here read and listen to the forums, so if there's any one thing that ever happens to be seen, let it be this:

Housing is a wonderful thing. I come from a place where a customizable home to suit the personality of a character and tastes of the player is a pipe dream. The fact that it exists here, and that its even part of the endgame for some, is a healthy and wonderful thing for the casual community, the RP community, and others. Some of the most fun I have is just going into an apartment and playing around with new ideas.

It has its faults, its frustrations, but it doesn't change the fact that I love it.

Thank you for including it in the game. And thank you for taking steps to improve the experience. There may be bumps along the way, but I for one plan to stick it out. That's what someone does when they care, right?

Let’s just say there is a reason why there is so much “Negative and Criticism” on the new housing wards being 75% FC only. It’s safe to say if it would have been 50-50 there wouldn’t be so much negative feedback.

It’s squarely SE fault for tricking out housing and letting FCs and personal housing to own multiple houses and/or wards.

PS: Might be a good time for people to go back to WoW, seems the love has stopped for most single players.

I remember being that enthusiastic years ago-

I think if we started seeing the changes to housing & other widely requested features (like an updated character creator with addition of beards & the hairstyles people have asked for since Heavensward. Like Hilda's ponytail)- There'd be more proactive posts

I'm also not just talking about the lack of available housing, but decorating changes & item limits increased as well as upgrading apartments- These are changes we've been asking for for years & it's felt like a waste of time or if there was more transparency & less of a disconnect from the devs (looking at you ugly hrothgar hairs that took you 2-3 years to add) you'd see alot of less negativity.

So, it's not just because of the housing lotto still being an issue- since it doesn't resolve anything except plot sniping
It's just a combination of little things that have snowballed & alot of it could be curbed if there was more communication on SE's part but I too, plan to stick it out whether the ship sinks or not.

I think there's a lot of jadedness due to the lack of communication and SE not enforcing their own housing rules. It's lead to a lot of frustration. Easily cured with better communication and a clear sign they're monitoring housing and handling problem players.

I don’t t want an upgraded apartment!!

I want a house with a workshop. I want an outside where I can decorate and put up my cherry trees. Look I pay the same sub as everyone else and actually a little more since I have so many retainers to store gear on because once again SE likes to limit things… I just want a house!

At this point we are down 10 years with 10 more to go, so it’s all downhill from here. What are they going to do, wait another 2 years to bring out another housing ward and/or give us a token 3 more wards in patch 6.3?

They need to make a commitment NOW, otherwise I am seriously thinking of my decision of continuing with this game.

I appreciate the positive sentiments. But it's worth noting SE has not satisfied the playerbase with housing since...well, since the system's inception all the way back in ARR. First they promised personal housing would be a separate and cheaper system than FC housing, but they walked back on that. Then, before cross-server friends and visiting and so on existed, they said they considered housing demand satisfied because dead servers had available plots. Of course, the moment SE's server model entered the modern era and allowed people to play together, they all vanished.

And then, finally, people have just been asking for more housing availability no matter how SE might do it. It's worth nothing FF14 is not the only MMO with a ward model, but that other game automatically adds new wards as they fill. Which SE doesn't seem to be able to do. Well, people would be OK with instanced housing too, as long as it would be an actual house, not just an apartment floating in a void. But that doesn't happen. All SE does is announce that they're looking into adding new wards, and then around 2 years after the announcement, add a few new ones but far less than needed (even before banning individuals from buying 75% of the supply).

Housing is a front-page feature SE advertises when trying to recruit new players, and... this whole saga has been happening for the better part of a decade now, yet still without a satisfactory end in sight. In fact, the odds of getting a personal house as of this patch are up there with winning the hunger games. And, it's artificial scarcity - Housing is FFXIV's NFT, before the term NFTs were coined. Such is why there tends to be so much salt around it.

See above response. I'm not shy about calling something as it is, good OR bad. If one only calls attention to what's done badly and not what's done well, what reference point is there to do well. Hm?

With good reason. The Wards dedicated to one FC is a load of BS and agitates issues for both personal owners AND startup FCs. The 30 day rule isn't ideal (honestly as I said elsewhere I feel the transferring of ownership should legit be like 6 months or something) but it's a start.

I saw that. I'll probably poke my head in there and see if that gets any traction.

If they didn't Trick Attack us with this on the literal LAST DAY before the patch they would have had time to taper the number after feedback. Now all the plots are going to sell in the 1st lottery unless you are on a dead server and there will be no time to "reassessed every patch on a per-World basis" because by the time the next patch rolls along there won't be any plots of land up in the private wards.

Funnily enough, SE did the same thing with the launch of personal housing. "Oh by the way, it's actually the same as FC housing and won't be more affordable like we said," moments before the servers came back online.
