New hrothgar hairstyles are really bad.

The images coming out of the 6.1 prelim patch notes sure are something. This is why you need to hold them accountable when things go wrong to this degree, the situation with Viera and Hrothgar was never acceptable from the beginning. This is the result of complacency and other players holding each other down when concerns are, for very good reasons, voiced.

Do not release broken or incomplete things with the premise of "fixing it later" though in this case it's clear they never meant to fix this at all.

The time for positivity is passed. At this point I fear its more effective to actually harass the devs directly to get them to hear these complaints rather than complaining on a forum thread none of them will ever read.

I think harass is a bit strong, just remind them they are not the only MMO out there. This is really reeking more and more like WoW-deja vu all over again and it really sucks considering I like the world of this game.

How is this homophobic or transphobic? I’m literally gay lmao. All i’m saying is if people are going to say the reason hrothgar haven’t gotten any updates is because they’re a minority, then what’s the excuse for the un-genderlocked outfits? Nothing against anyone in particular, just arguing based on the trends i’ve seen. People are so quick to play the phobia card without actually debating anything. It’s tragic.

I just want to remind people that moderators (IF they are here) only tend to focus on viral topics - can we keep the discussion on one of these threads please? I think it's likely that they did a poor job wording the patch notes. I believe we will be able to not only change hairstyle on the aesthetician, but also select between 16 (!) racial hairstyles with ears included (beyond the newly added earless ones).


Here is my reasoning. They said thet removed the facial feature that would add an extra bit of hair to your hairstyle, and added that to the hairstyles section. Now think... Hrothgars don't currenlty have a hairstyle section. I think in this hairstyle section they'd have the new ones but also 2 versions of each of the other face's hairstyle, one with the extra bit of hair plucked from facial features, and another without. So that makes 16 different hairstyles with ears every hroth could choose from.

Why don't I think it will be just 2 hairstyles for that face type? If the hairstyles selection (the racial one with the stuff from facial features) is happening in the hairstyle section, the face section would be just that, picking between the 4 faces. The hairstyles section would need to have the 2 variations, since you'd need to be able to change between the hairstyle with and without the added bit, meaning the face selection wouldn't have a hairstyle baked on. And what happens when you switch from face 1 to face 2, but you had the hairstyle that usually comes from face 1 selected in the hairstyles section? the face 2 would be wearing that same hairstyle as well. That's the behavior that happens when changing faces currently in the game for races that have a hairstyles section. So it would make to reason then that all 16 racial hairstyle variations would be in that section, usable in all 4 faces. And you know what races with a hairstyles section on character creation also have? A hairstyles section on the aesthetician! I think our case is closed!



Also, something of note in regards to hrothgar customization, in place of that removed facial feature, they're adding a brand new one!





The coeurl faced hroths will have an option for these scars on their forehead! I wonder what will be the new facial detail added as an option for the other 3 faces!


So in the end, don't despair, my hroth friends, from what it looks like we'll have more customization than ever, and you won't have to sacrifice your ears, if you don't like the earless hairstyles you'll have 16 options with ears that fit the hrothgar race!

as i have repeatedly stated and will state again at the detriment of my own sanity, this thread has long-since devolved into chaos and frustration and posts like this just make people angrier because in addition to their frustration at square, they're now going to redirect their frustration at you for criticizing them.
as you have pointed out, another thread exists. i suggest you use that one and ignore this one if it bothers you. if it goes too far off-topic then that's up to the mods to decide, including whether or not to delete or lock it.

I always thought they were a lot of resources to do, at least that’s what a lot of people spouted and said in ShB and how they explained the less glams given. Unfortunately i don’t know much about software and resources etc but i figured with how many people said it it was true.

no, what i'm saying is that squaresoft has PR teams dedicated to addressing issues and you're over here yelling at people for free and only making people more frustrated.
square has the ability to clear up any confusion in a matter of minutes and that's up to them. additionally, they hire moderators and GMs to handle any problem players/posters. you should not waste your own time and energy on doing their job for them for free.
