At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if they've seen it and chose to ignore it. There's just been this really odd 'disconnected' feeling with Yoshida in particular lately, and it's easy to see in interviews regarding EW's story beats.

Where ff14 works and succeeds is indeed several fathoms larger than the slowly emerging cracks on where it doesn't. Like, obv these issues are minor : the outdated character creation, repeat lazy hairstyles, hrothgar unable to change hair at aesthetician for 2 years now, clunky unpolished character models, rushed & predictable story sections, terrible housing decor system (floating, sinking, clipping) like imagine creating a decorating/placement system that is beyond frustrating, and then being okay with the fact that players have to maneuver and exploit unintentional glitches that break the decor system just so they can have something that isn't just an open room with some posters on a wall.
Many of which are issues that begin as cracks but can later prove to be sinkholes. Better to reinforce what still stands before building too much more on top of it.Where ff14 works and succeeds is indeed several fathoms larger than the slowly emerging cracks on where it doesn't. The Hrothgar situation was extremely disappointing for me.3+ years of promises for this... an ugly wig super glued on with a free ear amputation. And not even a word on the development of Female Hrothgar.
But I guess there is always 7.0. I can just hope that with their new overhaul they will be able to rework not only all playable models to make them less restricted but the character creation as well. Call me an optimist, but at this point, I need a spark of joy... this has made me so upset and bereft of hope I need something good, even if it's just a small reassurance. I love Hrothgar, they are my favourite race in this game and it pains me to see them treated as an annoyance by the devs. To see that an accessory item that you can only use when in idle animation was more of a priority than us.
My first MMO was 4Story and my first-ever character was a female beast. So when I heard of Female Hrothgar I got ecstatic! But now we don't even have an official concept art...
I just wish they would spare some of the devs to work on the Hrothgar and Viera issues, even with clipping, everything in this game clips, why not let the players choose? If they are ok with clipping then they can use any hairstyles, if not they can stick to the original ones. I don't know at this point... I just want to be able to use the hairstyles and keep my earring collection.
Please don't let it rob you of your joy, hope, or peace. The Hrothgar situation would be in an even worse state were people parading these changes as improvements. But a large portion of the community (including many who don't even care much for Hrothgar or Viera) are speaking up instead of letting silence be mistaken for approval. So thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on the matter. I hope you're able to bring your 4Story character to life in XIV someday. The Hrothgar situation was extremely disappointing for me.3+ years of promises for this... an ugly wig super glued on with a free ear amputation. Saw a twitter thread from a modder pointing out that hrothgar are the only race besides hyur where the ears are actually attached to the head.
Which means they had to make whole new head models to have no ears with these hairs.
So lack of effort is probably the wrong term, there was effort. They literally went out of their way to look incompetent, they intentionally did this.

Even if that's the case, it's trivial to resolve. One can very easily just remove the ears and close the gaps left behind or better yet, not even bother closing the gaps because the hair would cover the holes in their head anyway and then just literally copy-paste the ears onto the hair models.

Yes, that's what I'm saying.Even if that's the case, it's trivial to resolve. They made a whole new head model without ears. When they could have just left the ears there, or added ears to the new model.
They intentionally chose not to do so even though it would have been less work, or in the new head model case, trivial to add.
Baffling and infuriating imo.
There isn’t a lack of effort altogether, but as those head models you shared display, effort is lacking in creating thoughtful, lasting solutions for issues players have been speaking up about for years.
