To be fair, though, in previous games, Carbuncle as a summon was always a purely defensive spell. I never played XI, so that might be an outlier, but in VI, VIII, and IX it just provided defensive buffs.

To be fair, though, in previous expansions, Carbuncle contributed equally as much as other Summons. I haven’t played 6.1, so that might be an outlier, but in A Realm Reborn, Heavensward, Stormblood, and Shadowbringers it functioned identically to the Egi.
