They should not make you participate in the lottery if you already have a house. It should be old style transfer.

Everyone should have an equal chance at a plot. No one is guaranteed a plot just by 'putting the time in' and no one should be locked out of attempting to get a plot because they have yet to win a plot of land. It wouldn't function with the lotto system either as it could perpetually set plots of land back to the 9 day timer while negating people's submissions. Don't think there aren't people petty enough to throw millions of gil away just to swap back and forth to do that out of malice.

I was saving money to buy a large in Ishgard. I'm not doing it anymore, it will be a complete waste of my time.

If that's your dream plot, keep saving and give it a shot. Odds are against you either way as larges are coveted and fewer than other plots, but your chances aren't 0. Worst case scenario, you don't get your dream plot and have an excess of gil to spend on other things.

Actually we did get a little more information. According to the unofficial translation (and the slides seem to back this up), YoshiP said "plots aren't limited to FCs, there will just be more of those". Where I was expecting about 40% for FC, sounds like it's going to end up 60-70%.

I think going that high is not the right choice considering how much higher demand for personal houses is compared to FC houses. They harder they make it to obtain a personal house, the more they encourage the use of shell FCs and RMT to get access to housing. The 30 day waiting period is only inconvenience, not deterrent.

Also, log in queues aren't going to be 5 days long. They won't even be 5 hours long. While they'll be longer than they have been the past few weeks, they aren't going to be anything close to what they were like at Endwalker launch. No one is going to miss out on the opportunity to place their entry because of queues.

What information about Empyreum do you think we're lacking at this point that wasn't covered in the Lodestone news topic? Seems like the only information not released yet is which wards will be FC and which will be individual, and we really don't need to have that information until we can make our entries. There would still be plenty of time to coordinate with friends if you're trying to get houses in the same ward.

I have not seen anything to clarify that the partitioning of the plots in terms of FC vs personal, will be done at the ward level. The few cases that I have seen suggest it will be much more granular and done plot by plot. If the latter is what will happen, people are going to have to click on each placard for each plot to find out what they are eligible for. That takes a LOT longer than the "5 minutes" that some people are suggesting. Now as for the que times, I really hope you are right but in cases like this one should expect the worst and try to be prepared for it. Que times on my server lasted for HOURS when Endwalker started. It was troublesome enough that several people I know left the game because they literally could not play it during the brief windows of opportunity that real life afforded them. If his statement about FC plots means that there will be more FC plots than personal, this is a HORRIBLE decision. The number of available plots for personal use was already miniscule compared to the demand. Now it will be even worse. If actual plot information were to be available to players prior to patch day, people could log in without dealing with the server congestion and browse at their leisure. Selecting a plot to bid for could be done ahead of time and THEN it would be possible to spend only 5 minutes post-patch to just hop over and place your bid.

To everyone worried about having to log in the moment servers are up, remember: 5 days of waiting for a lottery and then up to 4 days to wait for the player to claim it.

What a horrible time frame. If you cut that by a little over than half of the current time then it might be a bit better.

I'm going roll a D20 to determine the ward I go to and find the small plot that's farthest away from the MB and any desirable landmarks to stake my claim on. If it means I'm facing away from the majority of the neighborhood; especially my direct neighbors, that's ok, it's less chance that I'll have to put up with a Paissa or Chocobo house.

Hey guess what? Fun fact. If you used your head. you'd realize that Instant transfer of housing doesn't detract from the amount of houses available. Only for that ward. I know that's hard, but come on. So in turn, it would still allow for everyone to have a chance period.

Instant relocation has already been removed since users have been abusing it for reselling and retainer trolling and it won't be coming back anymore so your point is kinda moot. What's more, people should have a fair chance to bid for the plots they like regardless of whether they are new or an existing owner and not be relegated to hands me down from previous owners.

I disagree. Having an existing house in an existing ward shouldn't also be a ticket to jumping the queue for new plots in new wards. You should acquire that plot like everyone else and then transfer your existing house into it while freeing up that old plot in the process. It's safe to say that some people, new or old players, aren't going to get the Ishgard house they want and unless they drastically overhaul the entire housing system, which is needed, you'll just have to deal with it.

Your chances are still going to be non-existent. The competition to buy one now pales in comparison to what's to come. Neither system is good, but neither of them are any better than the other.
