Issue with the lower time "solution" is that it promotes resale, which SE hates even more so. There is just no 1 perfect solution, theres always going to be someone with issues, even if the tossed everything out a added personal instance house you'll get those, "Why cant i have neighbors" yata yata...

There definitely is not a perfect solution. The thing I'd keep in mind is that it doesn't matter what the purchase timer is to the seller. It matters to the buyer. A buyer is not going to fork over millions of gil for a house if someone else can pick it up instead. Maybe 5 minutes is too short. How about 15-45 minutes? That's probably enough to deter buyers from risking a black market purchase. And short enough that those dedicated to finding vacant plots can get a house.

It isn't like SE is going to do this anyway. Just saying that they are going from one (or two) extremes to another; FCFS, 12-24 placard clicking, lottery

How about big FCs and relocation?
If the same rules apply for relocation, the best plots in new wards will most likely be won by very rich FCs that already had a house, which I'm not a fan of.

Thats a global tax, not a housing tax. Housing doesnt cost anything extra on that, hence it doesnt have a tax.

An actual housing tax would on that at least be a good way to sustain the server costs for housing and should allow more plots.

And yet if you dont have a house and take a break for three months you will come back with all of your inventory still intact. You would not just suddenly have lost millions of gil or half of your glamours. House owners can only stay away from the game for 45 days. After that they will lose their house. If that is a medium or even large one, it will be nearly impossible to get that back. And as far as I know if you dont take back your house items in a certain amount of time they will too get deleted....

So we are already paying for the server costs because unlike others we have to nearly constantly pay the sub and go into the game to keep the sub. We cant just come back every patch and take breaks between those.

They should not make you participate in the lottery if you already have a house. It should be old style transfer.

So, the live news literally gave no further information than what we already have. We don't know how many wards will be opened. We don't even know which plots will be FC and which will be personal. You have from April 12 to April 16 to find this information out. While that may seem like a long time, you have to remember the gong show that was the login ques when EW started. Couple that with restricted access due to real life issues by many players and that window of opportunity begins to shrink fast. They could have at least told us whether or not the Empyreum would be updated with new information on wards and on the housing placards, before the patch hits. This does not look good...

To be fair, if you can't play at the moment for real life reasons then that's kind of your own issue. The window of opportunity, however, is five days from the time the wards open. They aren't going to be selecting winners until that point. So, if you really can't log in for five minutes during that time period to put in a ticket, do you really need a house right now?

I was saving money to buy a large in Ishgard. I'm not doing it anymore, it will be a complete waste of my time.

Join the club. I've been wanting an Ishgard house since the day I first reached Foundation over six years ago. Now I have one chance to relocate mine otherwise I get to try again in a year when they, maybe, add three wards. I'm sorry, but people need to stop making excuses for this terrible housing system. Both the current iteration and this new lottery system are embarrassing when they constantly brag at how successful FF has been.

Yes, both systems sucks but people that already botted/paid for the house in rmt/gil, or camped for days, won't let you have an easier system than what they already suffered for.

Actually we did get a little more information. According to the unofficial translation (and the slides seem to back this up), YoshiP said "plots aren't limited to FCs, there will just be more of those". Where I was expecting about 40% for FC, sounds like it's going to end up 60-70%.

I think going that high is not the right choice considering how much higher demand for personal houses is compared to FC houses. They harder they make it to obtain a personal house, the more they encourage the use of shell FCs and RMT to get access to housing. The 30 day waiting period is only inconvenience, not deterrent.

Also, log in queues aren't going to be 5 days long. They won't even be 5 hours long. While they'll be longer than they have been the past few weeks, they aren't going to be anything close to what they were like at Endwalker launch. No one is going to miss out on the opportunity to place their entry because of queues.

What information about Empyreum do you think we're lacking at this point that wasn't covered in the Lodestone news topic? Seems like the only information not released yet is which wards will be FC and which will be individual, and we really don't need to have that information until we can make our entries. There would still be plenty of time to coordinate with friends if you're trying to get houses in the same ward.

It's not other players preventing the implementation of a better system.

It's SE.

As long as players stupidly blame other players for housing woes instead of holding SE to account for their design choices, the system will always be an ugly mess because there's no pressure on SE to fix it.
