Like, I'm glad that they realize that new hairs have been requested. However I find it hard to believe that they were 100% okay with this selection and did it while keeping a straight face.
It's kind of insulting.
The Snow one is the only passable one out of the bunch but it should at least allow the ears to clip through the bandana.

and on top of that, the hairstyles don't even fit the rothgars head correctly, they look like they was attached without any care. Rothgar Heads are wide, this just look like they just slapped the existing head cap for the other races and just slapped it on Rothgar

Heck, we do have new hairstyles, just look at Zlatan. His ears aren't covered.

I thought Zlatan just has one of the standard hairstyles? One that's not used very often by players, but I definitely recognised it from playing in the character creator.

But I assume the moogle is using the Miqo'te version of the bandana, so that doesn't prove anything one way or the other for the "unique head" thing.

I know there's a quote somewhere of Yoshida saying that Viera could have had hats if their ears were placed like Miqo'te ears. (I would have preferred that visually just for the look of the character, even before getting into the hat issues, but SE didn't ask me...)

Completely throws into the wood chipper the theory or notion that "Because of MV, Viera and Hrothgar are no longer coupled together!" seeing as they gave both Hrothgar and MV the same selection of shared hairstyles, which MV shared/ mirrored with FV. This could imply that "What hair works for BOTH races" may be a constraint on which are picked

I don't see how it "completely" destroys the notion. As you say yourself, it's only a possible implication – and I don't think you can read anything into it unless female Viera and male Hrothgar got a shared selection that was different to what male Viera got, and that is not the case.

I think the simpler inference is that they picked out "the hairstyles that will be worked on to fit all races" independently of which ones would look good on specific races.

From the seven hairstyles previewed so far (including the new one visible on female Viera in gear previews, which I expect to also see the male counterpart unlocked) the list seems to favour two things:

1. Recently released unlockable hairstyles, suggesting that for the last few patches, when they're been making hairstyles they have included the Viera/Hrothgar versions in anticipation of release; and

2. The first two standard hairstyles in the character creator that are available to every race equally, following the section of semi-shared but race-limited styles, suggesting that they are embarking on unlocking everything in sequence.

I don't think they've sat down and picked the specific best choices to work on first.
