New hrothgar hairstyles are really bad.

They SERIOUSLY looked at these and think that Hrothgar players would genuinely be pleased? What player base are they listening too? Because it clearly isn't the one that plays the game.

And then what? We ask for new stuff... But then what? Expect the quality to be any better? Given the little we've had given to Hrothgars, there isn't much trust going around.

Heck, we do have new hairstyles, just look at Zlatan. His ears aren't covered. And I don't even think any Hrothgar player asked for these save the Pulse headgear. I remember Hrothgars asking for the Wind Caller hair. Most Hrothgar players actually did temper their expectations. We know our facial structure doesn't lend itself well to a few options, which is why they've set their eyes on Pulse and Wind Caller to begin with. Yoshida himself said that not every hairstyle fits Hrothgars, so we'd get something different. So why force these onto us?

Besides, you say all that. But one thing you're not thinking of is that eventually Square will implement new hairstyles like the 2B and 9S in the future. Most races will be able to use them, with no guarantee for Hrothgars or Vieras. And then what? Do those not count as "new"?

My post was a jab at how we've been treated on the matter- we absolutely should not be asking- it should be common sense & we didn't get what we had hoped for.
But people feel we have to ask or else we will never see it.

People have asked for x things, since HW was released and we've not seen it at all, even with many requests.
But asking for things is a monkeys paw, that wasn't a joke. You either get something or nothing at all.
This isn't anything new from the XIV team and Hroth/ Viera not being finished when they were released was an obvious indication of that

Tossing in my 2 Gil here for the first time. Extremely Disappointed is an understatement.
Hrothgar were already in the worst position of all the races when they were introduced
Hrothgar had to throw in actual money for a haircut when no other race had to
Hrothgar waited the longest to have something new since their implementation in Shadowbringers
And now that it's been years, in order to use some awful additions, they also have to amputate the ears? Terrible all around and not worth the wait.
I shouldn't have to ask this, but did they fix the Fantasia issue after it being brought up multiple times?

Yeah? And what do you think they were doing for the first year and a half or so when people were still going to bat for them saying to be patient because they'd make good on what they said they'd do? Closing their eyes and plugging their ears waiting for people to finally snap and say "All right, just give us something at this point!" so they can go "A-ha! Well, here is what you asked for!" ?

3 years hard at work in secrecy on unique new hairstyles without telling anyone what the plan is just to throw it all away because some people were fed up and release this?

It was a cynical jest, many of us are used to be being burned like this- you either get burned or hate the result you are given (like housing for example)

I think saying they were hard at work for 3 years in secrecy is giving them too much credit unless we have yet to see more.
But from the examples we do have, I'd say atleast 3 months on and off at work lol

My post was a very pointed/ cynical joke, but I'm guessing many people aren't used to being burned like this with XIV (it's apart of why people say SE is a small indie company, with no money)- but for clarification, it should absolutely be a given. It's common sense atleast to all of us.
But this isn't something new from the design team

I think it depends really. As you said, this isn't new from the dev team, but when it comes to designing races it's for sure the worst they've gotten. It's as I said just four days ago actually: SE isn't a bad company, nor is FF14 a bad game. Under any stretch. And were it any other company, we really would feel like this would be the least that came out of it. It's just that we have so much of the community supporting their decisions, how much people tend to settle for superficial content and how used we are to a certain quality standard. So when something like this happens, (and I reiterate: after 3-ish years of virtually nothing, barely even new designs or addressing issues with Hrothgars + the fact we need to pay real money to change a hairstyle), people get outraged.

Because we did get pissed at Square when they threw out content people weren't on board with. You have Diadem, the initial Eureka areas and Blue Mage as good examples. But those have always been excused or brushed away. People warmed up to them. And even their excuse when Hrothgar and Viera were released. It deterred some people but also had a lot of people just shrug them off with hope that they'd reconsider. I know for sure I was one, and every group I've been in since had Hrothgars thinking the same. But this breaks that mold. It looks ugly, it looks poor and it looks like there's a lack of effort. And I don't think people will warm up to this anytime soon. Because unlike BLU or Eureka, there isn't much they can do to make this look any better. And after all the wait, expectation and endurance those players had to go through for this? A lot of players feel upset and as if they'll never get anything that looks as good as other races. It's the first time the let-down has struck that many people, and the preview images look like they're memes rather than anything official. Not even the announcement of Limited Jobs was this disappointing.

To be ultra fair, every single new hairstyle made in this game allows for miqote, au ra, and now viera ears/horns. This isn't an old thing, I think that's a stretch at best.

I think the red flag was when we were told Viera/ hroth had completely different head models so they couldn't have existing hairstyles- which honestly I was mostly okay with, but I felt atleast mog station hairs should be made to fit around them- but was hopeful for new/ unique stuff!
