New hrothgar hairstyles are really bad.

Idk how we should ask for new hairstyles to be added for Hrothgar as well, when that should really be a given? and to be honest, getting pre-existing ones should also be a given and yet here we are. I don't get how any of this should be a monkey's paw wish? The team should allocate the proper manpower to get this done, FFXIV is the game that has given SE the biggest revenue ever I will NEVER understand how they're not getting any more budget or power to do all this stuff. It's just surreal really.

My post was a very pointed/ cynical joke, but I'm guessing many people aren't used to being burned like this with XIV (it's apart of why people say SE is a small indie company, with no money)- but for clarification, it should absolutely be a given. It's common sense atleast to all of us.

To be ultra fair, every single new hairstyle made in this game allows for miqote, au ra, and now viera ears/horns. This isn't an old thing, I think that's a stretch at best.

I think the red flag was when we were told Viera/ hroth had completely different head models so they couldn't have existing hairstyles- which honestly I was mostly okay with, but I felt atleast mog station hairs should be made to fit around them- but was hopeful for new/ unique stuff!

it's unacceptable that they are being this lazy with Hrothgar. i honestly never thought i'd see the day where i would feel nothing but pure disappointment in Yoshi-P and the 14 devs for choosing to be lazy and acting like this wasnt going to blow up in their faces

I think it depends really. As you said, this isn't new from the dev team, but when it comes to designing races it's for sure the worst they've gotten. It's as I said just four days ago actually: SE isn't a bad company, nor is FF14 a bad game. Under any stretch. And were it any other company, we really would feel like this would be the least that came out of it. It's just that we have so much of the community supporting their decisions, how much people tend to settle for superficial content and how used we are to a certain quality standard. So when something like this happens, (and I reiterate: after 3-ish years of virtually nothing, barely even new designs or addressing issues with Hrothgars + the fact we need to pay real money to change a hairstyle), people get outraged.

Because we did get pissed at Square when they threw out content people weren't on board with. You have Diadem, the initial Eureka areas and Blue Mage as good examples. But those have always been excused or brushed away. People warmed up to them. And even their excuse when Hrothgar and Viera were released. It deterred some people but also had a lot of people just shrug them off with hope that they'd reconsider. I know for sure I was one, and every group I've been in since had Hrothgars thinking the same. But this breaks that mold. It looks ugly, it looks poor and it looks like there's a lack of effort. And I don't think people will warm up to this anytime soon. Because unlike BLU or Eureka, there isn't much they can do to make this look any better. And after all the wait, expectation and endurance those players had to go through for this? A lot of players feel upset and as if they'll never get anything that looks as good as other races. It's the first time the let-down has struck that many people, and the preview images look like they're memes rather than anything official. Not even the announcement of Limited Jobs was this disappointing.

You hit the nail on the head- and from the beginning specifically, when viera/ hroth were released people were cautious on how truthful the statements that unique hairs would be added and those folks ended up being right to a large degree- I remember the almost "doomsday content" threads, which specifically talked about the decline in content and quality (some were quite dramatic). At the time, it was blamed on Yoshi-P working on a different final fantasy, then it was blamed on the FF7 remake so I wonder what it will be this time.

I sincerely hope that there are actual race specific/ viera and hrothgar unique hairstyles still waiting to be revealed and that Yoshi-P didn't actually think we'd be happy with what we were shown

Im praying for this because i can honestly say that if they actually push these "hairstyles" into the live game, i'm giving up on Hrothgar and switching to a different race. I've waited almost 3 years for them to do what they promised. this is not it, and if they don't address this by 6.1's launch date, i'm just going to write off the race and move on.
