For me, it'd be Arenvald (although he'll need to trade in that wheelchair for a magitek one!), Estinien, Fordola, Hien, Magnai, Sadu, Riol, Jullus, maybe Gaius... even Gaia. Reposting what I said elsewhere, I'd really have loved a sundered Overlord travelling companion, if I am honest, particularly with Zodiark and the unsundered now gone (Emet/Hyth/Elidibus would've been my big choices otherwise) - especially if the Reflections are a destination, it'd be interesting to have one as a guide, with a revised agenda, since they were operating there.
When the game's story becomes self-aware:
To go off tangent, why did they do Arenvald so dirty?
I don't know who's done the EW healer role quests so, spoilers...
They didn't even bother animating him in the wheelchair. He moved via scene transitions. And what is with all this "Oh, I can't fight, I can't help" stuff? Do we know if he can't use magic? Even if he couldn't, firearms and magitek are both still things.
Because they wanted to give the false pretense of “see? there’s consequences!” but then just handicapped a character who had more potential than half of the scions lolTo go off tangent, why did they do Arenvald so dirty?

My old new best friendo Hythlodeus must absolutely be part of my next crew-- as far as "Scion-like" NPCs go, both him and Estinien are essentially all I care about at the moment.

"After ten years, finally headed to Sharlayan... absolutely stoked"
Zenos has far outstretched his welcome. I could understand if they'd done this sooner. But they haven't, he's always liked doing things for their own sake. Hunting just for the sake of hunting, finding a foe mighty enough to trounce him and give him a little ecstasy while he's at it. I don't really want the developers spring-boarding him back into action for character development. Something that should have occurred 2 expansions ago. He was forced on us in his resurrection and all things considered I genuinely think his screen time could have been developed on something more significant than just a bloodlust.
As for Meteion, she could serve as an interesting one. If anything, to see the world and future that looked despair in eye. Or as serving as an extra source of information for parts like Akasha/Dynamis. It's cliché, but it would work a lot better than more Zenos rammed down our throats.
But all things considered, I would actually like to see Y'shtola be our next companion. I know she is now and all, but her whole want/desire for the ability to traverse the shards, this in itself can lead to some brilliant stories, bringing some meaningful closure to her character. I would like to see them really just work on completely tying up their characters going forward otherwise it's going to be something that just... lingers for years to come.
After that, I'd really just like to see an entirely new cast on the table. Something to truly set the stage anew without that attachment of the Warrior of Light, and all the consequences that come with the title. E.g. A constant or incessant mention of how busted we are in the face of anything walking the star.
We've already served as a beacon for his atrocious bloodlust. We don't need to turn into a mothering/fathering or guiding star figure for this going forward. We don't really need another 2 years of the whole "Hey, I still exist by the way" cutscenes.

As for Zenos, the Munchkin Coroner (and SE's team speaking to Famitsu) said:
"As Coroner, I thoroughly examinedherhim
Andshe'she's not only merely dead
She'sHe's really most sincerely dead"
"Who? Me? You, cannot be serious..."
Seriously though, I'd so love to see that too, but, of course whereever Hyth goes, Emet envitably would have to follow, and then throw in the rest of the 'Amaurot Gang' to complete the set. (It's kind of why I run Ktisis Hyperboriea with Trusts so much, just for those three and their hilarious banter - and totally not because Venat has Stoneskin as a spell if you do it as a tank, totally not!).
Drawing on that idea, I'd actually love to see happen at least some point to team up with our... hell-raising, volcano-rushing, grape-loving, incorrigible Fourteenth Seat counterpart as a Trust, if only for the utter hilarity that would ensure (Big Sun and... Even Bigger Sun) - then have Venat there and those Binary Suns would become a Trinity (Former Azem, Current Azem and.... Far-Far-Future Sort-of, kind-of watered-down but still awesome sort-of-'Azem'). And to make 'Mr Grumpy' even more grumpy.("Honestly, I'm starting to think that is a requriement for all Azems!")
And, given that we know Azem is meant to actually look like the WoL... Yes I know it would break all pretenses of narrative consistancy but, come on, it would make for a hilarious contrast if nothing else.![]()
