A basic understanding of the job you're playing!?

He can call me a sheep all he wants. If enjoying the game design the way it is now makes me a sheep then so be it. I have other MMOs I can play whenever I want other kinds of character progression. FFXIV is unique and I'd like it to continue the way it does its game design. People coming in a demanding the game to change are the real problem.
Counterpoint: should people have to do research to just play a game? I feel like that rests to some extent on the game design for failing to teach players or otherwise discouraging them from practicing.
I mean you guys aren't wrong, but FFXIV also is really reveling in being casual-friendly and doesn't really incentivize players to learn their jobs except through job quests, which are optional, not very robust, and don't seem to stick.
Still defaulting to "he" to anyone in 2022, assuming people are demanding anything and then changing wording from saying xiv does it better than other mmos to xiv progression is unique and good for the game itself... Yeah hard to have actual conversations with people like you.He can call me a sheep all he wants. If enjoying the game design the way it is now makes me a sheep then so be it. This part I disagree with. FFXIV is a carbon copy of WoW's gameplay design just removing the added systems of false choice WoW gives. So I would say that FFXIV is far from unique and that FFXI was more unique than this game. But that was the intention of this game the devs used WoW as there example of a good MMO. The game should really change though specially the whole transition from Gladiator to Paladin kind of stuff is very archiac and confusing to many new players. And class homogenization is running a little to rampant. It is like I said in a earlier post, if you play a class for a particular role, you have pretty much played everything that role has to offer and the game should not feel that way.
I cleared T1-5 (Sub) and Ultima Weapon Ex (PuG) alongside a WAR with no Provoke... The far higher enmity modifiers at the time made it a non-issue so long as they pulled and didn't follow swapping out with a BB combo.
Yes, the WAR should have it and it was necessary for some fights (Garuda Ex), but it wasn't so "all is ruined" as many make it out to be.
You realize the avatar class/job choice doesn't automatically update from class to job, no? A simple lodestone search would show that it was already turned into Bard in-game.
Before attempting to slight others for perceived ignorance with in-game concepts, you might first want to check your familiarity with the website from which you're generating your conclusions.

How about you go play a game without rpg elements when this is supposed to be an rpg and quit crapping up this one. Absolutely wild you’d ask for an mmo with no builds. Streamlining the rpg elements out to the point where they don’t exist. At this point go play ocarina of time or something. Then go play those games where you play the same build the entire time and never respec to another skill tree.
I've said no such thing. I simply believe FFXIV's approach is better and has allowed us to have more unique jobs while other games spend more time balancing than they do releasing new classes.
Except the fact that the game did change. It changed to this homogenous, press glare to win, design. I vividly remember what ARR and HW was like and how those had progression. There was jank but instead of giving players more options they removed them. And that’s the theme for this game, if something had depth remove it. If something is complex simplify it.He can call me a sheep all he wants. If enjoying the game design the way it is now makes me a sheep then so be it. Like healers were able to do back when we had cross-class skills and were forced to level Thaum whether we liked it or not because we'd catch hell if we didn't have Swiftcast?
It was never the game that required only the "right" cross-class skills. It was the community. And the same thing would happen with the illusion of choice that you propose because someone would find the meta and the Balance would post it and everyone would cookie-cutter it like they do rotations now and flame anyone who stepped outside that little box.
